Who's left for GGG now, Billy Joe?

Billy was suppose to fight Martin Murray in a voluntary but when he got injured he apparently gave his word he would still give him the shot... But I wouldnt be surprised if Billy/GGG does get made... And that the 'injury' was because Frank and them knew about the Canelo announcement coming up, if thats the case I hope Murray gets some nice compensation/step aside money too...

Wouldn't mind seeing him fight Jacobs again.

Edit: If Jacob's wins this we might get the rematch.

Canelo: Golovkin Making Excuses; He Sounds Scared to Fight Me!
By Keith Idec

Canelo Alvarez heard and read every derogatory thing Gennady Golovkin said about him a couple weeks ago.

The besmirched former two-division champion claims he didn’t pay it much mind. However Golovkin feels about Alvarez twice testing positive for a banned substance, Alvarez insists he hasn’t let any of Golovkin’s criticism bother him.

Golovkin was uncharacteristically critical of Alvarez for his performance-enhancing drug ordeal. Among many other things, Golovkin charged that Alvarez isn’t telling the truth about contaminated meat being responsible for failing two Voluntary Anti-Doping Association tests for clenbuterol.

After announcing his withdrawal Tuesday from their May 5 middleweight championship rematch, Alvarez fired back at the Kazakh knockout artist by contending Golovkin is using this clenbuterol controversy as a way out of their second bout. They were supposed to fight four weeks from Saturday night for Golovkin’s IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO middleweight titles at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“To be honest, what Golovkin or his team say doesn’t bother me at all,” Alvarez said through a translator during a press conference in Los Angeles. “Because No. 1, they’re not doctors, they’re not the experts. I don’t pay attention to them. It sounds more to me like an excuse of not wanting to fight me, like he’s scared, to be honest.”

Mexico’s Alvarez didn’t elaborate about why Golovkin would not want to partake in a lucrative pay-per-view rematch that would’ve paid him eight figures. Alvarez also didn’t explain why Golovkin would be “scared” to fight him, when they’ve already gone at it for 12 rounds and Alvarez didn’t appear to hurt Golovkin during a fight that resulted in a controversial draw September 16 at T-Mobile Arena.

Nonetheless, Alvarez made it clear that Golovkin is the only opponent he wants to fight once the Nevada State Athletic Commission clears him to return from his suspension.

Alvarez’s hearing with the NSAC is scheduled for April 18 in Las Vegas. The commission is expected to extend his temporary suspension to at least six months.

If he were suspended for six months, it would be retroactive to the date of his first failed test (February 17). That would allow Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) to reschedule his rematch with Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) for September 15.

Alvarez, 27, couldn’t specifically discuss when he wants to fight Golovkin because his hearing hasn’t taken place.

“Absolutely, that is the fight that I want,” Alvarez said. “That is the fight that I wanna give the fans. That is the fight. And as soon as we get the green light, that is the fight that I’ll go for.”

The 35-year-old Golovkin, meanwhile, reiterated in a statement Tuesday that he still wants to fight May 5 in Las Vegas. Former WBA 154-pound champ Demetrius Andrade (25-0, 16 KOs), IBF mandatory challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs) and Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan (27-2, 19 KOs) are among Golovkin’s potential replacements for Alvarez.

De La Hoya: Canelo's the Model for What We Want in Our Sport
By Keith Idec

Oscar De La Hoya addressed a small group of reporters Tuesday at his promotional company’s headquarters in Los Angeles.

Canelo Alvarez’s promoter might as well have been pleading his fighter’s case to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Two weeks before Alvarez will meet with the NSAC, the Golden Boy Promotions founder and CEO made an impassioned plea for the public’s leniency now that his company’s cash cow has withdrawn from one of the biggest fights of his career.

De La Hoya, Alvarez and the rest of his team claim contaminated meat was the source of the clenbuterol that resulted in Alvarez failing two performance-enhancing drugs tests administered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association in February. The Mexican superstar hopes to have his middleweight championship rematch against Gennady Golovkin rescheduled soon after his suspension ends.

Alvarez won’t know the length of his suspension until he appears before the NSAC at its monthly meeting April 18 in Las Vegas. De La Hoya spoke Tuesday after Alvarez, who has been temporarily suspended by the NSAC, discussed how he always has been a clean fighter and will continue to do so.

“Thank you everyone for being here,” De La Hoya said. “And thank you, Canelo, for your honest words and sincerity. I know that there have been many questions and speculation about Canelo and the events of the last couple of weeks. Today I want to speak to Canelo’s character and how he is different from the vast majority of boxers I’ve seen in more than 25 years in this business. I can assure you that both inside and outside the ring, Canelo has always displayed a professionalism and commitment that is too often absent in this sport.”

De La Hoya, a retired six-division champion, pointed out that Alvarez never had a PED issue prior to testing positive for clenbuterol on February 17 and February 20. He’ll have a difficult time swaying skeptics convinced Alvarez intentionally ingested clenbuterol to gain an advantage during training, but that didn’t prevent De La Hoya from trying Tuesday.

“I’ve known Canelo since he was a teenager,” De La Hoya continued. “Even then, he worked hard, handled himself with grace and class and showed the utmost respect for the sport. Over the years, while some of his peers have acted foolishly and without regard or respect for the sport, Canelo has repeatedly shown he is the consummate gentleman and has gone to where he is today as a fighter through dedication, focus and hard work. Quite simply, he’s the model for what we want the best in our sport to be.

“I know my description of Canelo’s character matches what you’ve all seen from him over the years as well. I sincerely hope that given his unblemished record of having never tested positive in more than 90 tests in and out of competition, with more than 52 professional fights, you would be willing to give Canelo fair consideration.”

The 27-year-old Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) could be suspended for one year once his case is heard by the NSAC on April 18. If his suspension is limited to six months, it’d be retroactive to Alvarez’s first failed test, which means he could be cleared in time to fight Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) for his four middleweight titles September 15 in Las Vegas.

WBC Prez: Canelo is Guilty of Eating Bad Meat - NOT Doping!
By Miguel Rivera

The President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman, does not want people to jump to conclusions - with the looming suspension of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs).

On Tuesday, Canelo officially withdrew from a rematch with WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin - which was scheduled for May 5th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo is under a temporary suspension, after testing positive for banned substance clenbuterol in two separate tests back in February.

But last week the situation became worse, when the Nevada State Athletic Commission filed an official complaint against Canelo and ordered him to take part in a hearing on April 18.

Canelo's handlers were advised ahead of time that he was unlikely to be cleared for the Golovkin rematch.

He now faces a possible suspension of one year.

Canelo has blamed his consumption of contaminated meat as the sole reason for the positive tests. Farmers using clenbuterol on their livestock is an ongoing problem in Mexico.

"Each athlete is responsible for what enters his body and Canelo is guilty of having eaten meat and having neglected that factor, but it is not fair to be accused of doping, because based on what the evidence is he did not. Yes his attitude has generated enemies and unfortunately [this situation] has hit the sport, but hopefully this is an experience that will help other athletes and it will help address this serious situation of clenbuterol in sports and in the country," Sulaiman said.

"They had a hearing scheduled for April 18, three weeks before the fight, but being under a suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission was making it virtually impossible to carry out such a complex event and the most important fight of the year. Its very sad and painful how the whole process was played out and May 5 is now without the fight that everyone was waiting for."

The caping for Roids & Cinnamon continues...

My thing is this why has this never happened before you know how many Mexican fighters there is not to mention the amount of fight canelo has had...fighters being tagged with this hasnt been a blip or a trend.. thats something that needs to be expained by his camp

Erik Morales was suspended for 2 year.

If Mexico is known for having contaminated meat, which it is, why would any Mexican athlete as rich as Canelo risk eating it during camp or a competition time??? He can afford to order in, or even fly in any meat from the U.S (where he spends alot of time anyways) or anyother part of the world for that matter...

Truax: DeGale is Looking Past Me Again; Loss Didn't Humble Him
By Keith Idec

Caleb Truax can’t quite believe James DeGale is doing it again.

The newly crowned IBF super middleweight champion figured DeGale would’ve learned an invaluable lesson by overlooking him entering their first fight. Truax senses DeGale still doesn’t respect him, which Truax expects to work to his advantage again in their rematch Saturday night in Las Vegas.

“I expected him to humble himself and come back to try to get his title back, not to fall into the same trap he did last time,” Truax told BoxingScene.com. “But it’s fine with me, man. He can look past me again. I’m more motivated this time than I was for the first fight, just because everybody thinks it was a fluke and it wasn’t the best DeGale and blah, blah, blah, blah. I opened up as a 6-1 underdog, somebody told me, so that’s even more motivation this time around to shut everybody up.”

Truax (29-3-2, 18 KOs) is currently listed as about a 3-1 underdog, despite that he out-boxed England’s DeGale (23-2-1, 14 KOs) on December 9 in London to win the IBF’s 168-pound championship.

DeGale contends that he rushed himself back from shoulder surgery in June and says he is “ashamed” of his performance against Truax. The 2008 Olympic gold medalist promised to prove his superiority over Minnesota’s Truax, who won their first fight by majority decision.

“That’s just an excuse,” Truax said in reference to DeGale’s recovery from shoulder surgery. “Even after the fight, he said he was fine. He had 10 or 11 months or whatever to recover, and going into the press conference all he could talk about was how great his shoulder felt. And even after the fight, he said it felt fine. So it’s just lip service. I ain’t worried about none of that. I’m ready for a DeGale with six good arms, so it’s all good, man.”

The 34-year-old Truax has drawn motivation from what he perceives as DeGale’s dismissive attitude toward him, just as he did four months ago.

“I had some buddies that were sending me Instagram posts and videos of him just talking about what he’s gonna do next,” Truax recalled. “And even at the press conference [in December], I’m sitting right next to him and he’s talking about who he’s gonna fight after this fight and he was gonna fight George Groves next year. And I’m like, ‘Come on, man, you’ve got to fight me in about two days. You better worry about me first.’

“He’s still doing it. He’s still doing the same thing. I just saw an interview today and he’s talking about unifying with David Benavidez once he gets the title back. He should stop looking by me. The first time, he should’ve learned his lesson then.”

Showtime will televise the Truax-DeGale rematch as part of a tripleheader Saturday night from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT). The main event will be a 154-pound title unification bout between IBF champion Jarrett Hurd (21-0, 15 KOs) and IBO/WBA champ Erislandy Lara (25-2-2, 14 KOs).

Jarrell Miller: I Fell Asleep During Joshua-Parker, My Kids Did Too!
Heavyweight contender Jarrell 'Big Baby' Miller (20-0-1, 18 KOs) is hoping to become the next challenger for IBF, WBA, IBO and WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs).

Miller's name is being mentioned as a strong candidate to fight Joshua, if the British superstar makes his American debut in the summer.

Joshua was in action last Saturday night at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, when he won a twelve round decision over Joseph Parker to add the WBO title to his collection.

Fans were not pleased with the lack of fireworks, as Joshua went the full twelve round distance for the first time in his career.

Miller was far from impressed with the fight or Joshua's performance.

"He's not as powerful as he thinks," Miller said to Sky Sports. "I did not enjoy it. I fell asleep and my boys woke me up. Then my boys fell asleep and I woke them up.

"I thought Parker won but UK fans will think differently. Parker threw more punches, was more active, had a better jab. Joshua was getting hit by terrible stuff. Parker wasn't the most powerful but he was tagging [Joshua], and hurt him."

Should Miller overcome Johann Duhaupas later this month at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, he would love to face Joshua next.

"Hell yeah, I will welcome him to New York. We can make the fight happen," Miller said.

"He is definitely taking [American fighters] lightly because he had a good experience with Charles Martin. It's hilarious. Who have I fought to earn a title shot? Who did AJ fight to earn a title shot? Hilarious."

According to Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn, Miller is a real possibility for the near future.

"Jarrell Miller is a real possibility. He's a threat. He's got a great engine, he's got great work-rate as well and he's confident that he beats Anthony Joshua. We feel like we need to go out and make a defence in the US," Hearn said.

Jarrell Miller: Joshua Given Gifts From Amateurs Through The Pros

Undefeated heavyweight contender, Brooklyn’s Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller(20-0-1, 18 KO’s), hosted a media lunch in New York City on Tuesday, April 3 to discuss his upcoming, highly anticipated 12-round clash with former world title challenger Johann ‘The Reptile’ Duhaupas,(37-4-0, 24 KO’s), of Abbeville, France set for Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING and televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing (10:00 p.m. ET/PT).

Presented by Matchroom Boxing USA, Miller vs. Duhaupas is the co-feature at the massive ‘Straight Outta Brooklyn’international boxing event and will be contested as a WBA World Heavyweight Title Eliminator. Miller is currently world ranked #3 by the WBA, WBO and IBF.

“There’s a lot of talk about other fights for me after April 28 but I’m going to continue focusing on Johann Duhaupas and not let anything affect my training. Of course I’d like the fight with Anthony Joshua.”

“I want to be a world champion in and out of the ring, not just be a heavyweight champion but live that life, giving back when I can like my work with cancer survivor Lili Weaver and I’m honored that HBO got behind that. HBO has done a great job with me and I respect them very much.”

“I was given a chance and people helped me and I want to give back when I can, it’s part of who I am as a person outside the ring.”

“I want to show Eddie Hearn and HBO what I can do in the ring every time out. I’m 310 right now but I’ll be 290 when I get in the ring, I’m a big hitter and I’ll prove it in the ring on April 28 against Johann Duhaupas or anyone else that gets in the ring with me.”

“Deontay Wilder has great punching power but Ortiz was too old to compete with him for 12-rounds. When Deontay faces a young hungry bull like myself it will be a different story.”

“Lucas Browne didn’t want to be in the ring, he was unprepared and out of shape. Dillian Whyte is not a ferocious puncher but he did what he was supposed to do however Browne wasn’t’ even trying.”

“I feel asleep watching Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker, it wasn’t a very exciting fight. Joshua wasn’t going to lose a fight in England on the scorecards. AJ has been given gifts from the amateurs through the pros. His whole career has been in England. Come to Brooklyn AJ and I’ll show you what’s really up!”

‘Fighting smaller or older boxers isn’t going to test AJ, fight someone like me and I’ll take all his belts before leaving the ring.”

Headlining ‘Straight Outta Brooklyn’, former Middleweight World Champion and BROOKLYN BOXING Ambassador DANIEL JACOBS, (33-2-0, 29 KO’s), returns for a 12-round middleweight showdown against undefeated world ranked Polish contender MACIEJ SULECKI, (26-0-0, 10 KO’s) televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

De La Hoya To Joshua, Wilder: Call Me, I'll Make You Stars in U.S.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya is not impressed in the aftermath of Anthony Joshua's big win.

This past Saturday night, Joshua added the WBO belt to the WBA, WBF and IBO titles he already held, by going the distance with Joseph Parker and winning a unanimous points decision in Cardiff.

The London 2012 super-heavyweight Olympic champion came into the contest with 20 wins, all via knockout, in his 20 professional fights to date. He added a one to that tally with two judges awarding him the fight 118-110 and the other 119-109.

And now, Joshua knows exactly what his next aim is – Deontay Wilder and his WBC belt.

De La Hoya took to social media - telling both Joshua nd Wilder to call him if they wanted to become superstars in the United States.

It's not the first time where De La Hoya made a play to promote the two undefeated heavyweights.

De La Hoya's company prompted Wilder for a better part of his career. They parted ways after January of 2015, following Wilder's decision win over Bermane Stiverne to capture the WBC heavyweight title.

"If Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder want to become household names in the US of A and stop doing mediocre ratings on Showtime, call me and I’ll make you superstars in the beautiful USA," De La Hoya wrote.

“To be honest, the Anthony Joshua fight did 400k homes on cable and Wilder has done over 1.2 million. I’m saying he’s not making huge money! He’s a champion, I respect it. But he’s no Mike Tyson, that’s for sure.

“I’m a fighter who loves boxing and breathes boxing all my life, I want Anthony Joshua to be considered a legend one day and make the most money doing it!

“If I was promoting Wilder I would take him to the UK and fight him with Joshua then have a rematch in the US. I made [Wilder] champ and look at him now ever since he left.”

Somebody’s getting really desperate.. Since their biggest meal ticket is going to be sitting down for a while because of suspension...
