This is statistically not true. I don't care if you ignore it ether. You're peddling a lie and until you come to grips that the information you're peddling is incorrect, you're just lost man.
You clearly do not understand how votes are counted or how voting works.
The popular vote is the total number of votes a candidate receives. It's a 1 for 1 vote. Each individual who is eligible, counts as 1 vote.
The winner of the Popular vote for each State, wins the total number of Electoral votes for that State.
Different State have different numbers of Electoral votes. The larger the state population is, the more Electoral votes that state will have. California has a larger population than Kansas so California award more Electoral votes than Kansas.
To win the Presidency, a candidate much achieve 270 total Electoral votes. There are multiple paths to 270 Electoral votes that include different winning combinations.
States in which the Popular votes are considerably close, are called Swing States. Meaning they can Swing in ether direction because the Popular vote is so close.
So in order to become POTUS
- Win Popular vote in a particular State.
- Win those Electoral votes for that State.
- Win 270 total Electoral votes.
Due to some states having a higher population, a candidate can win by a larger margin in a State like California or Texas which can lead to a wider margin of victory for the popular vote.
However, a candidate can lose the popular vote in one State like California by millions of votes (like Trump lost California to HRC in 2016) and win the popular vote by a very small margin in Swing states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and secure enough Electoral votes to become POTUS.
Saying that the Popular vote doesn't matter is liken to saying that a single vote does not matter which is of course, not true and uninformed.
