Official Wrestling News Thread

Uhhh folks tired of those matches in AEW?? That's news to me. Especially when muthafuccas are cheering "THIS IS AWESOME!" in a lot of those matches. And all those promotions you mentioned in that era of indy...hardly anybody was watching them. B/c most of them wasn't even being shown on mainstream TV. Or on networks folks didn't even know existed.

So for a die hard indie fan...yes those dream matches are nothin new to you. But for everyone else who wasn't exposed to that, AND just now seeing it on a mainstream TV show like AEW...then yes it's very much new. The fans don't seem to have an issue wit it.
Lets act like because we saw 19 year old Byran Danielson vs 21 yr old Seth Rollins in the early 2000s in a highschool gym it means we shouldnt care to see them against eachother now that they have primed up and are seasoned vets. Another wild statement.

If the story makes it compelling. Though at this point, when it comes to people that have been around twenty years, the build up matters as much as the match-up because they aren't new faces with new moves. When the names are established, then that fame should be used better. That's why I don't feel like these free agents maintain their hype after their debut. We know they can wrestle, but this is a spectacle no matter how competitive it appears.

Idk...it just does not feel like the show is very planned out

Christian is getting praise from every corner. That was happening before Edge showed up. Edges run is not being nearly as well received.

The feud is elevated based on their history, that has nothing to do with AEW. The story inside AEW is being propped up by that history, their story is not adding value. Unless you think Nick Wayne and his mother are somehow enhancing the story.

Now the matches being well received is separate from the story that ties the matches together. And that's the disconnect. AEW has lots of good matches. They just don't have good stories to back them up. They suffer from telling not showing. Oh, Bryan vs Shibata is a dream match. "Why?" "Google it."

It's this  super niche program, with a dwindling audience capable of keeping up. And rather than do literally anything to make the show more captivating, or interesting, or even understandable to anyone else, the owner and his cult fanbase are ignoring all criticism and ignoring all warning signs that what they're doing isn't working nearly as well as they think it is.

Edge vs Christian? With all of the built in history? Yeah, great story. But Adam Copeland vs Christian within the confines of the story told by AEW? It's a shit story. That Christian is performing at a high level despite the shit story is a credit to him to be sure, but it's a detriment to Tony et al. Want to give him a family? Give him compelling characters to play off of and not glorified stage props who detract from his act with their shitty acting.

You dropping science bro. You got some well thought out opinions and should post them more often. Salute.

Officials have been surprised by Femi's development in the short time he has been on television, with the viewpoint of him being the "total package" being a common one backstage. One source also noted that WWE sees Femi as a source of untapped potential and do not have any plans to rush Femi to the main roster despite his surging popularity.

Femi got the juice

WWE signed Jade and she was treated like a star, everyone covered her, why didn't AEW go the extra mile to treat ol girl the same way?
