Is Reading Overrated?

Aye @Goldie wachu think about bad movies then?

How about if there is a really good story to be told... but the person(s) telling it fucks it up?

Just because theres visuals attached to it doesn't automatically make it better than the source material.

One day you might walk into a diner and their food is trash..... but their lemonade was amazing. That doesn't mean lemonade >>> food lol That just means the cook sucked that night.

Yea u have nothing

Anybody else wanna try to debate this ridiculous comparison?
why is sportscasting even a thing then?

people ca just watch the sports..

let's not forget movies have to have good scripts...someone has to write the material
This nigga's quoting poems :dfbruh:

Next!

sports in movies are rarely like the actual game, because a writer adds drama to it....

when it gets acted and filmed, it's just carrying out what's written......they still have a script that they're drawing from.

look at the rocky movies.. that wasn't real boxing, but it's mad entertaining...because it was written that way first...then filmed

If TVs didn't come with speakers, the point u just made would've been AMAZING
i watch my tv with the volume down and closed caption

congrats on another plat thread tho

but goldie don't duck the rap questions....

do you like having the ability to read along the lyrics of your favorite rappers, especially if you know they dropping gems....

what you say reading the lyricvs is overrated of say a pac or a nas song....

people often criticize pac and say he was limited cuz of his flow and delivery...... but word for word, if you print out pac songs... how do you think they stand up against anybody..

on paper....written lyrics..who fucking with pac?

or is reading the lyrics overrated. just fuck with the beat

i missed BA's comment

i also think that's true, some people just like reading better...

i get what goldie saying about the pretentious shit....and that's honestly why i don't read as much at my night job, cuz people put too much into it, i jsut like fantasy shit. sometimes its movies, sometimes it's books, it really doesn't matter to me, but people treat you way different when you're reading a book vs watching some shit on your phone...to me it's the same, but the attention i get from reading books is really annoying.

so i read much less than i would like to, cuz there's some good stories i'm sure i'm missing out on that i wanna read

I've been reading a lot of Memoirs/Autobiographies lately.

I havent finished any of them, but at home i got the My Infamous Life by Prodigy, RAW by U God, Scarface's autobio, Doug Stanhopes Autobio, This Might get a little heavy by Ralphie May, the Autobio by Marc Maron and a couple others. I like to read, but i get distracted by a lot of things like Video games or something on TV ive been wanting to watch haha. I try to read at the very least a chapter before i go to bed though.

Besides that I like reading Fantasy, comicbooks of course, Horror, and some Non Fiction stuff.

TIL Goldie uses books as coasters

Nah imo Pac had the best delivery of alltime. I think people's gripe with Pac is that he lacked punchlines and witty wordplay that u can get from a Hov, Big , etc.

But as far as books I'm not saying they're not a good method of entertainment. I view them as scripts. Like when you write your stories, them shits be dope af. But when I'm done reading it I think about how it would look on screen, with actors who can bring the characters to life.

but real talk, writing is where it's at.

James Patterson like 850 million now???

i mean at the end of the day, books birth movies....

not saying the book is always better, but it is the source material, and it's impossible to be overrated when that's still the major go to for Hollywood..

if our book is a NY times best seller, there's a good chance someone is gonna try to make a movie from it..

Harry Potter was amazing franchise..... but they ain't just decide to make wizard movies.. the books had to sell first..and shorty damn near a billionaire now....

i sometimes wish they stop trying to adapt so many books and just do original screenplays..... but there's some amazing stories out there...and peple really just wanna share with the world..

plenty of books still got mad sales that flopped as movies too.....

that shades of grey shit......

never read the book or watched the movie, but i'm sure the book made more money... cuz the movie didn't get half the buzz the books were getting....

remember zane's books chicks were reading them to death.. and the tv show was just soft core porn, with a story no one was following....

but they was reading them books

Reading is underrated. I fell off for a minute but now I'm back to reading. Trying to collect all my favorite series to read them all again. Been hitting up all the Friends of the Library stores I find. Just bought 14 books(hardcover) yesterday for a total of $11.

Where is the books/reading section on here?

This is the shit i meant, mfs wanna come off so smart.

If yall love books so much , why isn't there any fuckin book threads? A whole forum full of mfs who LOVES books, but no threads?

But meanwhile the cinema section is jumpin :foh5:

I hate niggas
But will we have a "does Goldie hate niggas" thread?

I see the treatment I get round here

I feel like I have a brotherly bond with all Walter Mosley fans.

And it's impossible to be a homophobe and read Anne Rice. Every book club for her new releases is like 90% gay. They my peoples though so it's all good
