I think true adult hood starts between 25 and 30. Closer to 30.

An 18 year cant be a child if an 8 year old is a child.

But an 18 year old cant be an adult if a 30 year id an adult.

18 is just the entry level. Like you go to junior and senior kindergarten before you go to regular school. You have to start somewhere. Officially in society from before any of us were even born it's been 18.

In other countries teens can drink, smoke and go to clubs legally as early as 16 does that make them adults in those countries?

I agree with what you're saying but I also agree with @Dwayne we're cooked because we put to much energy into what is otherwise just semantics. North Americans the only ones that put so much emphasis on age where in other countries it is what it is.
