Because excelling can be hard. If you don't have some talent or marketable skill and you start off behind the 8ball, it can be hard to see an avenue for success. Plus people are also conditioned to see past less glamorous but reasonable jobs. For instance, if you learn plumbing, electrical work, or HVAC, you're going to be able to get a good job pretty much anywhere you go. However, you don't hear anyone bragging about plumbing in rap songs so it's not on people's radars.
100% agree, but I refrained on going down that path. lol
I did it at a time when my only responsibility was myself. I wouldn't be able to do it now because I'm responsible for more than just myself. Life circumstances often affect the decisions people are able to make in terms of where their lives are at. Being aware of an option doesn't mean it's one you can actually utilize in that moment.
had to come to the laptop for this.
see........if you took the time sometimes you could see where im going with it.
i hear everything you and others are saying about this that and the third.........and at the end of the day ...you dont know what you dont know.
this is why i say travel. get ya fucking passport and travel.
you will see that its a such thing as an american privilege and a black american privilege.
there are women in europe who came here just to sell their bodies being the sacrifice to feed the whole family back home.
if i tell a nigga to relocate to a better area......often times its met with that sounds crazy.
i often point out......niggas crossing the Alps and getting limbs cut off from frostbite and most bodies aint found until the summer thaw.
but saying .....you could get better pay living closer to atlanta and niggas cant find a way there.
its people who are leaving or fleeing warzone and floating across the med......women are repeatedly rape along this journey and many dont even make it to the boat....and when on the boat they still dont always make it.......thousand die every year....trying to get to europe for a better life.....to be parking attendants or dishwashers and living 8 to an apartment..
just the other day.......you said your lunch was over a two and didnt have time to post. think about that.
a few people in the DR was starving many nights during the covid lockdown because they work closed and the govt wasnt giving them shit for quite a long time.
what did the US give you?
haiti just had the fucking leader of the country killed.
Trump had blocks of niggas beat so he could walk across the street.
got messicans dying in the back of trailers and floating in the rio grande to get a chance to take shit from you since you dont think its good enough for you.
i say all that to say......you are not seeing the opportunities available to you because you are focused on whatever else.
running a company is not as hard as it seems......every company is not general motors.
its not all that easy either.....but neither is the job you doing right now im sure.
the opportunities are there.........but do you know what they look like?
so what we really talking about?
this is all about perspective
this aint about shut up and be happy where you are.
this is about.....why do i need to convince you and others that its so much more out there for you to gain.
All that still doesn't invalidate his gripe and point.
A person can only compare the life they've been through. A poor black american person ain't traveling to another country to see and say oh they got it worse so I need to thank my lucky stars I'm american poor not some 3rd world country poor.
There is women in america selling their bodies to feed their family.
The whole point is really its dumb as fuck to compare the struggles of poor people. WTF does it even accomplish to bring it up? That's just like white people saying black people ain't slaves no more so WTF do they have to complain about.
Thinking back to the 80s convo in this thread that was also the time when "go to college and get a degree" was beginning to get pushed heavy as the path to a comfortable middle class lifestyle. People started clowning folks who went into trades. Hell my high school had basically an entire building sectioned off for people who were in the tech program and spent half the day in regular classes and the other half learning a trade of their choice. And niggas used to clown them because taking that path was seen as "less than" because trade work became extremely devalued in terms of prestige in our society. I think that image that was created and pushed through media of the often overweight, lazy plumber, electrician, mechanics etc was imprinted in alot of people's minds and made those jobs seem undesirable despite the fact that they're often very good and stable career paths
I don't care. You choose what you want to do. You felt a certain way about my initial post in this thread when I stated folks can do more, but chose not to.
Folks can't be too limited with buying J's and iphones etc.
You love to make up these excuses up for these grown ass adults. It's called being an adult
The other poster pointed out that you make excuses and your posting tends to do that on other topics.
Now life circumstance is the cause for folks to NOT do more to improve their life, but they can buy J's and other trinkets. Life circumstances doesn't get in the way of that. It's called being an adult
Dude you got more excuses than anything. Grow up
You just gotta live in an area where people do it tho. Niggas don’t base life off of rap after 23.
Your initial post didn't do anything other than reveal that you and some others have foolishly bought into the "anyone can achieve the American dream" bullshit that gets indoctrinated into people from birth in this country.
Life circumstances determine every single move you make. A single person at 25 wouldn't make the same decisions as a person who is 30 and has kids because their life circumstances are different. That's not an excuse that's called a reason and there's a clear difference between the two. You can't think just tossing out generic ass suggestions that don't take into account the actual circumstances of the person you're talking to will work. If you deny that reality then you're never going to actually be able to help anybody. But it's much easier to sit on some moral high horse claiming to know exactly what every single person's problems and solutions are without actually knowing anything about them.
Bruh, you'd be surprised. I know dudes in their 40s still doing stupid shit because they want to "do it up like a rap video."

Perspective
sometimes perspective is good
a woman selling ass in her home country is very different than needing to travel and relocateand be away from family to sell ass.
the point was we should be willing to move around in a place with all the opportunities others want..
Would you relocate to make double your pay
LLS at niggas speaking on poor people in the hood talking about the name brands they be wearing and not knowing that a lot that shit be FAKE AS FUCK.
LLS at niggas speaking on poor people in the hood talking about the name brands they be wearing and not knowing that a lot that shit be FAKE AS FUCK.
Now money is not a factor? What perspective is it to be gained from comparing a poor persons conditions to the conditions other poor people when neither has lived in the other person's shoes. It makes no sense.
Whether I'm poor with payless shoes on or poor with no shoes in a 3rd world country. Fact remains I'm still poor to the standard of living where I'm at and that is all the fucking perspective that is needed.
As for the bold it depends. Money isn't my biggest motivating factor in decisions I make. That goes for even when I didn't have what I have now. Just because the pay is doubled doesn't mean my work environment is better. Doesn't mean the hours work well with a life - work balance. It's a lot of shit to consider and money ain't going to be main reason I decide to relocate.
It’s not about comparing struggles for me per se. ....it’s more about people risking their life to be dishwashers.I only brought up other countries to show some examples on how people can still be poor with little to know choice. I Wasnt comparing struggles @DOS_patos
Now money is not a factor?
ok
poor with no options would make me see the options I have clearer.
niggas ain’t got internet but we got a whole forum with threads about investments and shit that’s only visited by a few.
just saying
