Welcome To aBlackWeb

Some black families are and some aren't. Maybe this one isn't as dark brown as you wanted. His own family ain't even dark.

We all know this tho. If it’s a representation of his family cool but I don’t think everybody knew this before the criticism came out. But nobody said light skin people aren’t black. Y’all were reaching. I mean we have seen shit like this before and I feel like it’s a reasonable gripe. But if the show is good then ok.

There's definitely no reach. People are actually asking how could you have a "blackaf" show with a light skinned cast, jokes or not.
The problem is people tend to rant without searching facts. Just always trying to find something to be mad about or offended by.

AP you can’t have a discussion on colorism bro you don’t even think it’s real. Y’all know how people are and this really ain’t the first time it happened.
And what qualifies you to speak on the matter?

the show is wack asf

all this forced Blackness lmaoo

i miss martin

a Black show that wasnt hellbent on trying to convince us its ...well Black AF

Blackish* Grownish* Mixedish* and now Black af all center light skin/ racially ambiguous ppl, if youre too obtuse to see the issue with that, thats on you.

these arent even relatable narratives of Blackness. you was cussing at your mom at 11??? lmao im not mixed enough to understand the humor in that

listen, im not watching the show because im over the clownery.

all these “Black” shows are trying too hard and its corny ...asf

also ppl that look at things thru a critical lens all the time had an issue with the show, those that just watch shit for the sake of watching shit, see no problem with it.

theres no point in debating about it.

I would hate to always look at shit through a critical lense...

life would be miserable

always trying to attach some type of "ism" to everything smh

I didnt see any "forced" blackness

just an aspect of blackness alot cant relate to

if Puff made a show about his family after he got money it would be similar...

but based on how people are reacting it would be accepted cause he darkskinned and so are three of his children lol

Black ish was nothing like the stuff you mentioned

Can't speak for the spin-offs as I had no desire to watch them

Mixed-ish, well the premise of the show is in the name lol. Chronicals Rainbow's experiences as a biracial child

Grown-ish in my opinion is less about race and more about the experinces of the modern young adult (gen z) to include the new drug culture, social media, relationships, etc.

That was for Race

My bad

But thank you for the summaries

Trying too hard to do what exactly? lol at none of those shows "having any relatable narratives of Blackness". So you've watched ALL of these shows and made the determination for all black folks that no-one black can relate to the stories being told? Who are you to say what other people relate to just cuz you might not?

Black folks aren't a monolith right?

you can be critical of things and still enjoy things. Thing is the whole cast outside that mom ain’t even light skin I mean nobody dark either but the way the defense was I’m thinking they all look like Steph Curry. It don’t look terrible but not really for me. And no that don’t mean I don’t like rich black people or just want hood shows.

I am over the shows where characters don’t feel black enough because they don’t fit a stereotype it’s like they taking those high school jokes into real life. Like black people don’t do xyz. Or trying to be down

I think where the disconnect appears to be is that some folks pigeon-hole blackness into what they and the folks close to them experience as "black"

Once we stop trying to make blackness monolithic then we can look at a show like #blackAF and not see it as "less black" because we dont relate to being super rich.

Like I said...

If Puff made a show like this based on his life...a lot of shit would be the same...but it just feels like because Kim(RIP), Christian and his twin girls are dark skinned there would be more "i dont like the humor of this show" rather than "they liteskint so this aint #blackAF" bullshit thats bing said right now
