Welcome To aBlackWeb

and wrong lol... don't forget wrong.

Trying too hard to do what exactly? lol at none of those shows "having any relatable narratives of Blackness". So you've watched ALL of these shows and made the determination for all black folks that no-one black can relate to the stories being told? Who are you to say what other people relate to just cuz you might not?

Black folks aren't a monolith right?

shows suck and problematic

be obtuse elsewhere

i said what i said.

im not paragraphing yall to death today going back and forth because im not all that invested.

Unpack this one some more for me

I'm still not sure what's your gripe

idont have a gripe I just don’t feel like whenever people talk about colorism it’s not legit. Like everytime it’s brought y’all roll your eyes and say folks being sensitive. Like it’s fake outrage

This is a terrible example

People were pissed that flex played Micheal Jackson for a ton of reasons. I get it's difficult to cast an actor who's black but appears white but in the case of Nina Simone, if it's a biopic, then the one thing you have to get right is the likeness

so you never saw a preview or trailer for something and felt it wasn’t for you before you saw it? Noggas was critical of that Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone without seeing it.

Seems corny and ant no dark skin people
you can be critical of things and still enjoy things. Thing is the whole cast outside that mom ain’t even light skin I mean nobody dark either but the way the defense was I’m thinking they all look like Steph Curry. It don’t look terrible but not really for me. And no that don’t mean I don’t like rich black people or just want hood shows.

I am over the shows where characters don’t feel black enough because they don’t fit a stereotype it’s like they taking those high school jokes into real life. Like black people don’t do xyz. Or trying to be down

You were critical before ever even seeing the family for yourself. So the preview analogy doesn't fit. You initially jumped on the complaint bandwagon with no research at all. Keep it clean.

they definitely black but we can’t act like light skin was never the standard of beauty. It always going to be a thing. But we have better representation now.

I read it’s base on his family sooooooooo. All what you said is unea
the show is wack asf

all this forced Blackness lmaoo

i miss martin

a Black show that wasnt hellbent on trying to convince us its ...well Black AF

How you feel Martin dressing in like multiple women throughout the show.

No emasculating the black man vibes?

I finished it today and it was okay like I stated earlier in this thread.

I liked the gems they dropped in each episode but it really wasn't all that funny. To compare this show to Curb your enthusiasm (Larry David) is a stretch also. I really like Black-ish and thought this was less funny than that show also.

I do hope it gets a 2nd season though and I look forward to watching it if they do

@Hellczar ,you definitely have the right to not be interested in watching a lightly colored black, family playing a black family.

I know. But I’m thinking it’s a family of Steph Currys or something. Only light skin person I saw was his wife really. So were people mad the family light or mad it’s no dark skin folks. Or was it just about Rashida Jones.
