A $250,000 per seat Titanic tourist submarine has imploded

But this doesnt apply to this. It would more apply to Gabe Newell, co-owner of STEAM.

He spent 4 years building a sub capable of going to the bottom of the ocean, anywhere on earth. They built it and pressure tested it so that its rated to handle depths deeper than our oceans even go. So far its been to the bottom of all of the deepest oceans in the world, with no problems. It only seats 2 tho. It was built for exploration, not for tourists.

They'e using it for science and to map the ocean floor.

An indepth story is here.

Here's a mini doc on how it was made.

Heres a couple videos of them going down to the bottom.

This sub was designed to be simple as possible with a ton of safety systems. You gotta be thorough with stuff like this if you're gunna risk your life.

Trust that someone somewhere will take the old blueprint and make it better while still being cost efficient

Maybe not the capsule its self, but the batteries n shit.

The Capsule is 2 giant pieces of titanium they molded and had milled into a perfect sphere. Then send it to Russia to be tested in the strongest pressure test machine in the world

@Inori I'm still curious about the noise as well. Like can they still hear it now or were they doing that up until the sub imploded? Obviously doesn't matter but it would help make things make sense as far as timeline. 🤷🏿‍♂️🤔
