Black Thoughts got more hits Melle Mel and that nigga in your top 5.
Not only does he have The Message and White Lines, but he was the first rapper to win a grammy for I Feel For You - Chaka Khan feat Melle Mel.
He was also featured in Beat Street.
And Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 were the first rap group inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Melle Mel won a grammy for his performance on Quincy Jones's Back On The Block, the same year that Fresh Prince won his Grammy, who you claim was the first rapper to win a Grammy. And if you really want to get technical, Melle Mel was the first rapper, and he won a Grammy.
Chaka Khan's I Feel For You won The Best Vocal Performance, Female. Melle Mel opened the song with a 12 bar verse and he also spits in the middle of the song. There is no version of the song without Melle Mel.
Using the transitive property; a=b and b=c then a=c means that Melle Mel performed on a song that won a Grammy, thus Melle Mel won a Grammy. The song wouldn't be the same without Melle Mel.
Unless you can find a version of the song that Chaka Khan recorded without Melle Mel I stand by my original statement.
