Freeman is BY FAR the best detective, and the show goes thru many lengths to show this.

1st he shows up McNulty at the beginning of the case, then he councils kima on proper policing, and by the end of the 1st season he has taken 3 humps that no one else wanted (Carver, presbo, and Sidnor) and got them tracking down B&B shell companies all over town.

McNulty meanwhile corrupts kima and presbo at every turn, always taking shortcuts to get the job done, eventually dragging Freeman down with him by season 5.

Bro,when he figured out Chris and Snoop were hiding bodies in the vacants.. "This isn't a vacant,it's a Tomb !"

In defense of Prez, he wasn't fit to be on the street. But he was great for the detail as he could follow the paper trail and had an eye for detail and unlocking codes. All of that which made him a great teacher.

Nah I believe Herc told them about what he found when he pulled Snoop and Chris over BEFORE they went to Prez. The nail gun wasn't really of importance to Lester until he noticed the nails on the boards. Herc was supposed to bring Randy to Bunk because Bunk was looking for Lex, and Randy was a witness since Little Kevin told him what happened.

Nah, Lester figured out the nail gun shit. They was just looking in the field for clues, til Lester realized that damn near all the houses that was surrounding them were vacants

Yes Prez pointed them in the right direction, but Prez didn't know about the bodies being in vacants or what the was using to board them up.

I feel sorry for anyone that didn't get to watch the show as it aired. The way they ended episodes and set up for next weeks show was GOAT.
