Dope, whats Safflower???
It's a spice. You can use the petals in cooking or even for tea.
I like putting saffron in some of the dishes I make but it can tend to be expensive sometimes especially if you use it alot.
Safflower is called the poor mans saffron sometimes, I wanted to grow some and see how they compared in taste.
Ahh OK, let us know whats it like... I heard some mad thing a couple years back about bootleg Saffron being imported to Europe (maybe around the world) as its such an expensive commodity... There was some test you could do to check if you had the real thing or not, I guess thats why its called 'red gold'...
edit: just found this video...
Uncovered fake saffron trafficking scheme worth millions of euros
Europol assisted Spanish authorities in pursuing an organized crime organization that was laundering millions of euros in illicit proceeds from the saffron trade. Before exporting saffron, the criminal network combined real saffron with herbs and chemicals to boost their profit margins. Accoraffidiajournal.com

Weather is still frosty and cold here, itching to get out and start planting...
what you got in mind to plant when the weather breaks?
Dope, Im jealous you can grow year round @Inori haha
Ive finally got round to getting sh!t sorted now the weather is turning... Washed and scrubbed down the polytunel and greenhouse, ordered some plants and waiting for them to arrive... Weeded the fruit cage too...
Also dug two old blueberry plants out the ground and put them into containers as the pH level in my soil wasnt acidic enough and potted them into acidic ericaceous soil, so hopefully they take well and do well this year with bigger crops and more flavour... When my other blueberry plants arrive they will go straight into containers with ericaceous soil too... Im especially looking forward to the pink lemonade blueberry!!!
Strange that apparently honeryberry doesnt need as acidic soil as blueberries, even though theyre a similar fruit, so they should be good in ground soil...
My goji and loganberry looks decent too, the mildew seems to have gone so I'll leave them in afterall and hope it doesnt fck me!!!
This is my 3rd year gardening now, I gotta do better this year, maaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!
wheres the pics fam!
Spent the day gardening today, shovelled tons of soil into the polytunel, absolutely shattered but got alot done...
Still got to get somemore veggies but pleased to finally plant few bits... Just hope things pick up... Trying out growing peppermint in polytunel, greenhouse and the trug and see what works best...
Tomatoes and elephant garlic...
Tomatoes, mint and cucumber...
Fruitcage with few different potted blueberries and raspberries... Hoping the planted honeyberries and gojiberry fruit this year, might be next year though the loganberry done well last year though so hope it has another good year...
I thought the goji and loganberry may had died last year as they got mildew at the end of season but I cut them right back and they look to be doing ok now...
This tomato in the greenhouse went wilted after I watered it (not a good start!!!) hope it perks up...
Mint looking lonely in the trug, think I will put some basil and things in there with it...
