It can basically be used as a streaming box for media as you can get pretty much any streaming app (e.g., Netflix, Spotify, etc...). That was more important in the PS3 era before every TV was a smart TV.

Some people use it for their streaming platforms. But its not built to be used for much outside of video games. Not sure why anyone would be looking at it like a multi use, multimedia source eitherway.
