Yikes who the hell is managing dude's campaign ????? Don't cancel man, shift your narrative a little and just campaign more aggressively. Reach out to delegates and seek endorsements. by turning your back on some states it looks like disrespeck.

Biden only has 100 more delegates than you which isn't a big deal. Snap up the smaller states to close the gap and try to at least cut the leads in big states so that it's more even. Stop whining and calling people the establishment for not voting for you and start politicking.

I dunno who tf is advising dude to make these moves he's making but it's terrible advice

The bolded and underlined Will never work especially in America.

And if Biden becomes president he's gonna wage the new war on drugs. Will be very interesting to see if this contradicts with what he said about decriminalizing marijuana on a federal level. Two different things but with politics what one offers in one hand they take with another.

On your first point...no reason that the taxes that hedge funds, ceo's, and others who make most of their money on investment income should look so much different than the income tax that you and i pay. I understand their is risk involved but there has to be a way to differentiate between your average day trader and people who make outrageous sums of money.

Your 2nd point...apparently the focus of bidens plan is treatment which is good. I would like to see more focus on prevention but that was a focus on the last war of drugs (with obviously punishment) to mixed results. That said, prevention is probably FAR less expensive than treatment while treatment probably gives you much better results. I think the best approach is a mix with punishment being an absolute last resort.

Can someone explain to me why the African American vote is discusses as one chunk while the white vote is broken down into categories? Even by Black Pundits.

With the white vote we have, white men, white women, older whites, younger whites and then its even further broken down into educated whites and uneducated whites.

The black vote though is just the black vote. Even though young and old blacks voted differently, and the same with educated vs uneducated and african americans up north vote different from the african americans down south.

But its being discussed as black people voted this way just cause their black.

What am I missing? Is it just the difference in population?

Black folxs arent afforded the luxury of not being looked at as a monolith. one Black person does a thing and its a reflection of the entire race, sadly.

its because of racism that we cant be seen as individuals with dissimilar ideas and interest

Also just shows society still cant wrap its head around the wants and needs of African Americans. Instead of breaking down why AA voted the way they did, and why certain AA voted for certain candidates, and why someone like Bernie just cant win over the trust of AA, its being discussed as AAs are just not that smart and they always vote for who they are told to vote for.

Makes for a very lazy discussion on here and on tv.

yes its the common theme around election time. it ranges from Black folks being considered low information voters to pubescent children that have to be told what to do at every turn.

its degrading

And one more thing, theres nothing wrong with the psychology of voting for someone that looks like you. Ofcourse you would want everyone to based off policies that they agree with, but the average american regardless of race cant have a 5 minute long policy discussion. Most wont even know some simple American history.

So they vote for who they can relate too.

300 years of mfers voting based people who look and sound like them. In 2016 white men didnt vote for a white woman cause she didnt look like them. Also in 2016, white men voted for a mfer that sounded and just like them. It was all bout relateability.

So it doesnt surprise me that a good chunk of AA voters voted for a person who was the VP of the only president who looked like them.

Shit is just human nature, happening all over America and the rest of the world.

The only sad thing about it is that Biden isnt going to respect the black vote like he should because he didnt do shit to actually earn it.

The Black Caucus should hold Biden(or any Dem nominee for that matter) accountable if he is put into that position... cuz he really wouldn't have won shit without the black vote. He needs to be reminded of that.

Would be nice at some point during the debates on the 15th with Bernie and Biden if BOTH of them are asked explain theirselves when it comes to the black vote and black issues specifically.

I won't get my hopes up tho

we also kind of pigeon hole ourselves too if we are being honest.

Its definetly pigeon holed but unfortunately your options are bad and worse. A ton of people have multiple ideas on how to make politics work for AAs BUT none of them have the power to organize like the two parties do.

People can talk about great ideas all they want, but until its put into action their just words, and its hard to put something into action when you dont have the economic power and the man power to organize a collective thought in communities.

In theory having a party that is predominantly african american win 5 senate seats will change everything. The party wont have loyalty to either the dems or republicans and with 5 votes they can sway the passing of a ton of bills. So the republicans and democrats will always be forced to negotiate with these 5 senators and include sections in that bill that impact AA communities in positive ways.

But again the organizational power it would take to make this happen just doesnt exist in the moment. So you're stuck voting between a party that wont help you and a party that will hurt you. Shits trash.

at this point idk because so many Black leaders dont have poor Black ppls interest in mind and tend to be more conservative leaning.

i really dont know who to trust.

The influx of young democrat minorities that keep winning seats is realistically the only thing that will maybe cause a change. Not yet at this moment, but if that number keeps growing. 2018 was really good for that. Hope that trend continues.

Would love to see more congressional blocks being represented by a congressman/woman that looks like them.

At the moment there are a ton of congressional blocks that are like 70% minority and represented by a white man that never lived there.

Yea. Its tough cause a politician having the intetests of the poor in mind is hard to find to begin with. But with AAs theres the layer of being black, strike 1, and then poor, strike 2, and if your a woman on top of that, strike 3.

Having a politician that cares in general is tough, but to care about all 3 of those factors? Havent seen one yet. Really need an black AOC to pop up. Young, socialist as fuck, but also talking from a black perspective. AOC is really good for her community, now I just need a few more of her to pop up from a few more communities.

It's because of Gerrymandering that Republicans do with Democrats in certain districts for statehouse and Congress to win elections and gain majorities. Thomas Hofeller was behind it.

1st point - actually they don't. Their net worth is tied entirely to the value of investments, the average stock/company is yielding like 3% so 97% of their worth based on the asset they own. If we're talking solely on income sure but most execs dont even need a salary. Capital gains tax goes down the longer you hold something, the idea is to spurn long term investment which is the banks (who have been around for hundreds of years' bread and butter). Your taxed way more if you buy and sell something short term vs long term. 98% of the billionaires in America are wealthy because the value of their investments they've held for so long are worth that. They don't actually have those funds liquid until they sell.

Youre right but still...i think outrageous amounts of capital gain income should still be taxed at something resembling an income tax rate. Again i understand that a different long term capital gains tax rate spurs investment but you can already extend your losses as a way to minimize risk anyway. Thats how trump probably skimps out on taxes.

I think one way to get around that is the wealth tax which im not opposed to if its done for the mega wealthy and it is one time (or maybe once every five years and the govt has the option to waive it). Anything more than that with the wealth tax and you'll have people selling off assets with no buyers.
