Sorry, that's a bullshit argument. Biden had a huge turnout because this was a highly polarizing election. Lots of people voted Dem because they wanted to get Trump the hell out of there. You can't attribute that to Biden being the right pick when he didn't even do much during his campaign. You also can't assume that the socialist smear hurt him when the so-called socialist ideas proposed by other DEM like some for of public option in the healthcare are popular. Biden was a trash candidate. The only thing that's saving him is that Trump is even more trash.

Yes, he was a trash candidate. He had next to no policy proposals and could barely put together sentences in the Primary. He just happened to have the DMC and mainstream media in his pocket. Let's also not forget that Elizabeth Warren and others dropped out conveniently at a point that was good for Biden and bad for Bernie amid talks about who Biden might choose for his cabinet and running mate.
