Breaking News Pacific Palisades currently under an evacuation order due to the fast-moving, wind-driven fire | Update: LAPD has @ Least One Arsonist In Custody

Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and other climate change related issues have been kicking these redneck hillbilly states' assess for a minute and we have plenty of threads about them but you don't see the same cast of characters you see here blaming the governors of those states like they do here.

Also I'm still waiting for a solution to go along with the juvenile "all these politicians are bad bad bad" takes. Do you really think roving bands of anarchistic marauders and militias could organize the containment of multiple wildfires better than a regional government?

We had a brief history lesson when Washington had that Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone lol

What's the difference between those threads and this? No one is in there defending and making excuses for the lack of management in those red states either. At least I haven't.

The question u posed is a solution no one suggested so IDK where u came up with that. Why do u guys get so defensive when blue politicians are called out for incompetence and no accountability? It makes absolutely no sense to me.

I'm sure those same threads u mentioned where the Republicans fucked up u didn't say anything to anyone criticizing them.

Hold everyone accountable red or blue.

The politicization and partisan agenda-driven finger pointing started the minute the fires started making news. Literally on page one of this thread was when the bullshit started. The fires are barely contained and yet you want people to be held accountable? Accountable for what? Wind, gravity, lack of natural resources and a shit ton of other factors?

If there is negligence, misappropriation, incompetence or whatever (and I'm sure there is) then absolutely the people responsible should be held accountable. But that shouldn't be determined by memes and misleading articles and people / news outlets with hidden or overt agendas spreading misinformation.

We should still be in the "damn that fire is fucked up. I hope everybody is ok and can get what they need." phase. But nowadays the shit always goes straight to the bullshit. And it could be my perspective but it most certainly seems lopsided depending on where the incidents happen.

Yes the fire is fucked up. And no one who is put in any position of leadership has any answers, that's also fucked up.

Bringing up climate change in a Republican led state makes sense, bc they don't believe in it, so they do nothing to prepare for it.

Bringing up climate change in a deep blue state where they believe in it, enact policies and regulations for it, and still get caught with their pants down as if they didn't see it coming, makes no sense unless you are actually trying to hold them accountable.

The problem is people have been calling out these problems for years. It was only a matter of time when officials out here did little to manage glaring issues.

No one wants to hear that rah rah I feel your pain bullshit from them. Or that we need to stay united and not place blame shit. Of course they don't want blame to be placed because then they'll actually be held accountable. Thousands of people have lost everything, I wish people defended them...as much as they defend politicians "on their side".

Exactly, there are articles dating back to Newsom's first year in office how he misled the public in his wildfire prevention efforts and only did a fraction of the work he set out to, while telling the public the job was complete.

He has a history of supporting bills that increase wildfire risk that ultimately get canned due to uproar from environmental and wildfire organizations. A bill that wouldve allowed for homes to be built in wildfire prone areas so the guy is just like every other politician, money is his motive.

My problem is and always has been that each party expects perfection from the other party, while making excuses and playing blame game when it comes to their own.

Yall forgetting not all of Cali is deep blue. A good portion of it is deep red.

If it was all a solid liberal state, the wealthy farm owners wouldnt of been getting away with the crazy amount of water wasting. Got a good number of officials that do what their wealthy donors pay them to do.

IDK why people were surprised a fire of this scale can happen with the current political climate. Yall forgot the Paradise fire a few years ago? A whole town burned down and dozens of people killed because a power company's execs/share holders, didnt wanna spend the money to keep their equipment up to date & trim the bushes around their towers. They constantly got fined (the max fine) which isnt a lot for obvious reasons, and they ignored it cuz its cheaper than actually fixing the problem.

After it was all said and done, no one went to jail, they just walked away. People can only try and sue the company that of course filed for bankruptcy.

California isn't as blue as people think. It's alot like NY in that people assume because the major city/cities are that everywhere else is. I agree with your point but it does need to be noted that Cali ain't a deep Blue state.

The fact that people are so focused and playing the blame game right now, which is not going to bring anybody's home back instead of being completely appalled that leaders in congress are not only dragging ass, but want place conditions on the actual aid to help people is telling.
What congress is doing is a problem as well. That is my point, that's what ALL politicians do, red or blue. No different than when Dems demanded Green new Deal provision in the COVID relief bill.

But asking a governor to be accountable to what happens in his state is not blame game, its expecting accountability, which we absolutely should do each and every time.
