FOX is reportedly losing money under their deal with WWE SmackDown.

A new report from the Wrestling Observer cites a Morgan Stanley analysis that said the price tag for SmackDown could not be justified. FOX paid $196.7 million for SmackDown in the 2020-2021 TV season, and ended up with $134 million in losses. In the 2021-2022 season, FOX paid $208.5 million for the show, and ended up with $145 million in losses.

The conclusion to the analysis was that there simply are not enough wrestling fans to justify the kind of money FOX spent on SmackDown, and that the number of viewers likely will not change over the next two years.

SmackDown wins Friday nights for FOX on most weeks and that makes WWE more valuable to other networks, but at the same time, even with winning the night, SmackDown still brings in the lowest ad rates of Friday night primetime network TV shows at $47,000 per minutes.

So Smackdown is most likely leaving fox next year. If Comcast buys WWE, just put smackdown back on USA probably

As long as Disney doesn't get it I'm good. I can see Disney either watering down the content for Disney+ or making ppl pay to watch on ESPN+ smh

A Kahn grabbing WWE is a plot twist for sure but they haven't done much with ROH. Currently, I don't like their track record for acquiring wrestling companies
ROH was a dead brand doing less than 900 PPV buys when Tony purchased it. Final battle just did 25k+ with reportedly the largest gate and ppv buys for a Final Battle show in ROH history. Plus the only reason ROH is even in a position to be talked about is BECAUSE Tony bought it and features it on AEW television. All that in less than a year

Triple H held a talent meeting at Smackdown on January 13 that helped calm the nerves of some talent..

Since Vince McMahon forced himself back into the company, there have been numerous talent concerned about their creative futures.

Triple H said that he's been assured that
Vince McMahon's return is to see if the company should sell, and help lead the charge and figure out who they might sell the company to if they do. He made an attempt to squash the story of a sale being a "done deal," and said even if it happened, it would take a lot longer.

What calmed many talent's concerns, was Triple H stating that none of what is going on with Vince McMahon will change the creative process he has in place, or the team that helps put it together. Triple H did keep it open and say that anything could change, but right now Vince McMahon defers final creative to Triple H. Triple H also said that while he and Vince McMahon may have discussions, he makes the final call. WWE was adamant in an official sense to us this week that Triple H was still running creative.

Triple H also thanked the talent for all they do and said he understood that there was some concern.

I think the deal is already done or there’s a handshake agreement in place and we won’t find out until later.
