When people say they don't "need" somebody it's just saying that their life won't stop in its tracks if that person is no longer there. Your life will be able to keep moving should something happen that leads to the relationship ending. You can be madly in love with somebody but if you feel like your life serves no purpose unless you're with that person then that's not a healthy relationship.
 
A lot of men prefer submissive women. And/or they expect exclusive rights to their partners (or potential partners) sexual expression. It's why I get it when these so called hoes and thots go claiming their ownership and autonomy over their bodies. What female rappers like Cardi and Megan do with their persona flys in the face of all the puritan shit u see espoused by limp dicked conservative pundits.

But let's be clear that there's a divide among "haters" . Dudes like me like what I see but don't care for what I hear cuz it's vapid asf. At the same time I don't believe all art has to be high art. And what's funny to me is when these dudes who r pervs and deviants n shit in their free time wanna expect chastity out of women who aren't theirs.

Yea but it’s still answering the wrong fundamental question though. It’s not always life or death to be with someone, And that you don’t “need” someone is besides the point anyways, because it doesn’t change the fact that people actually like feeling needed…for other reasons. I just think it unnecessary to wear the fact that they don’t “need” a man on their sleeve like some kind of badge of honor, because low key it exposes they don’t recognize what kind of man is essential.

You have a point. I believe you attract the energy you give. Maybe deep down she feels insecure about things. I think all humans have insecurities. As we grow we learn how to rid ourselves of those doubts. I am sure most people would have described me as confident, bold and spoken. But in my teens and 20s, I can now see it came from a spirit of "proving" myself. A place of "yall ain't gonna catch me slipping". I can identify with what I am perceiving from Megan as this idea of having to defend myself in a outward way. It's a place of fear and I can't let them see me not at my best. And if they got something to say I am gonna make them eat they words. But until deep down the subconscious thoughts and energy is shifted she will always attract that scrutiny from men she speaks on.
 
I think the issue people have with Megan? Is the fact that she pushes a lifestyle in her music that she should know does not open the door for much excitement and happiness. Like she’ll talk about how confrontational she is when it comes to her dealings with men, yet she is madly in love with that Fontaine guy. She talks about how much she and women dont need men, but then talks about how black women are so unprotected. I think that’s what most people dislike about her. It’s like a child running to her house with a pair scissors on them, you know that at some point they going to fall on it, cut themselves, or potentially kill themselves. So your disdain for them doing the running shouldn’t be passed off as blind rage.

This is where nuance comes into play and separating the idea of need meaning "i can't live without you" vs "i enjoy your presence in my life". Yes we all like feeling needed and as part of somebody's world, but to be somebody's entire world is what I'm referring to when people say they don't "need" somebody and how that is unhealthy. Yeah some women confuse and conflate the two, but for those that don't they tend to have healthier relationships because they're more aware of what they actually do require from a partner to bring into their lives instead of what they just hope somebody can bring into their lives
