Yep, Cuba has a pretty fucked up history when it comes to race. Long story short, black Cubans were very instrumental in Cuba getting independence from Spain. There was no racial division until the U.S. came to help out in the war and basically demanded that they implement segregation in their army. From there, the White cuban took good ole fashioned U.S. style racism and ran with it. Fast forward, and part of the reason why such a high percentage of the cubans the fled to American in the 80s are white is because Castro's regime took some steps to undo some of that racist policy. That's not to say he ended racism in Cuba or anything like that, but he took a hard enough stance that the white cubans wanted to get away from it.

That's been the move that's been called for since this leaked. Her initial statement tried to downplay it before she released another yesterday. As the story keeps picking up steam it wouldn't shock me if she does step down completely

This is America, everyone hates each other here. And overall, the world is full of hate and disgust for the next man, woman or child. People say fucked up shit behind closed doors. Think fucked up thoughts. Do fucked up shit.

I am not shocked by whatever these politicians and business leaders do or say. They are fucked up like everyone else.

It's just if you are a fucking politician or business leader, how comfortable you have to be to get caught saying fucked up shit?

I know I said this before but the few Panamanians I had went to school with I thought the country was mostly black. Ya know cuz military and all. The. I did some more research. Have you ever visited.

Racist folks who have power over peoples lives with the decisions they make should get caught for that bullshit and made to give up that position of power.

I want all racist people in positions of power to feel that comfortable that they say the quiet shit out loud and get caught and have their professional career ruined for it.

Never cared for or been worried about trying to change a racist person thoughts or heart. Just that they shouldn't be able to fuck up peoples lives intentionally
 
To be fair, we're mad about them talking bad about us. These same Mexican politicians will support policy that has their people in cages. For real, check how many of them vote Republican and support harsh immigration policy.

You'd be surprised. A lotta Cuban-Americans look down on Cuban refugees. Mind you, they themselves were riding on top of a tire to head to Key West 20 years earlier

Much of the conversation focused on maps proposed by the city's redistricting commission and the councilmembers' frustration with them, as well as the need to "ensure that heavily Latino districts did not lose economic assets" in the once-in-a-decade process, according to the Times.


Despite the apologies, Bonin and Arian point to what they call a coordinated effort to weaken Black political representation in Los Angeles.

"The conversation revealed several layers of contempt for the people of Los Angeles, and a cynical, ugly desire to divide the City rather than serve it," Bonin and Arian said in their statement.
