BLACK WOMEN GRADUATE WITH MOST U.S. STUDENT LOAN DEBT

where do you think im going with it?

and again....i am not trying to bash our women.
I'm not accusing you of that. I'm just putting these things together the way you did by putting those links in the OP.

black women have more degrees than Black men

+

Degrees are less valuable than they once were

+

Black women have more college loan debt

=

???

hahaaa

i am going somewhere with it.....but it aint where people are thinking now that you pointed it out.

I was able to pay off debt within a year of finishing studies but I was conservative with finances from the jump. best approach is to only go where you can get funding, then you won't have to take out loans unless you need em to cover living costs.

Idiots, like me, buy into those ideas about the value of a school's prestige and name, though. It is way harder to get funding at those competitive schools

It's crazy because back in the 60s, you can take a trade in high school for free, develop & get skilled at it, then after you graduate. You can make a profitable career with it but now they want you to pay for that trade

Ivy League and top lib arts schools meet full need, sometimes for households earning up to 100k. Top schools can actually be pretty good for need based funding.

Other schools usually have merit funding tho

You sound like them Facebook hotep niggas. The ones who say women cant sleep with degrees and think they should be humble and submit.

You probably dont think that yourself but that how it sounds.

Those are the same type of women who are always bragging about their degrees........while, at the same time.......complaining about being single and "not being able to find any good men."

The "hoteps" are only telling those women that their degrees don't necessarily make them relationship material.......and, more importantly, that it's not something that's a prerequisite for most men when they're looking for a woman they want to be in a relationship with.

Submitting has nothing to do with it.

Well, maybe it does from the Hoteps' perspective.......but not with most men.

I remember that.

It was called Vo-Tech when I was in school.

Stood for Vocational Technology.

People kinda looked down on people in VO-Tech because they weren't being tracked for college..........but most of them probably ended up getting the last laugh.

If I had it to do over again, that's definitely the path I would've taken.

Granted, I probably would've still gone to college........but it would've been nice to have acquired a specific skill from my high school education.

Its insane to me that the baby boomers have effectively tethered a large portion of the millennials and younger to a proverbial debt ball and chain for having the audacity of seeking higher education without being rich.

I recently hit the 100k+ a year salary milestone and dont have a degree. 0 loans. Nothing.

People in my field make less than me on average and all have 50k+ in loans.

I just recently starting school, going on my own pace and paying out of pocket since I can afford it now.

i sometimes wonder how niggas aint paying off these debts tho....

how much were them shits that 10-15 years later you still making payments but driving a benz?

My boy makes 85k a year. In theory its good enough to make payments on his student loans. But he has to pay child support, and make payments on his house.

The fucked up thing is he owes so much that his student loan payments would be 900 a month. Reason for that is he comes from nothing and had 0 help financially to graduate.

Looking at his situation I can understand why

ok....im not clowning....but 85k?

he might just need some financial advice.
i dont like when someone can do something but other things stop them.

not saying he wanted things to be like this....who does? but i hope he gets a grip on things.

he might need to get his kid. not to not pay support but to better be able to provide for himself and child.

sounds crazy but in Pa ...you are back every two years in court for a custody increase without the mother requesting it. but most people wont stop it either. then to add...he must care for his child separate from the support....smdh

trust me...i was there.....shit stopped me from doing alot.

I feel you bruh. I told him the same thing.

But at the same time, the system is also to blame a bit. Hes the first person in his fam to graduate from college, but that being the case also means that he comes from a poor family that couldnt help him at all and so only way to put himself in a position to succeed (in his case) was to end up with damn near 100k in student loans.

Only way to pay that off is by being economically responsible from the get go. The system doesnt allow some people to make the mistakes your supposed to make and learn from in your early twenties. That shit is fucked up.

at least hes trying...

i hope he wins in the end

From my experiences, and as stated already from others, black women tended to focus on fields that either necessitated a degree or post-undergraduate studies: law, medicine, and education come to mind...maybe that askews the statistics considering those fields require more money to reach the end goal. Nonetheless, education is super pricey nowadays. I graduated in Comp Sci and have done well for myself to sorta offset the costs but others may not share my same achievements

Why not anymore? That's a good field. I've thought about re-upping to some kind of writing field and going into games and other media. There's tons of demand. The gaming market dwarfs TV, cinema, and pornography
Omg I've deadass thought about writing for porn. Cuz the plots they be having....
