Welcome To aBlackWeb

Active shooter at Texas Robb Elementary school with 19 kids and 2 Adults dead, 18 year old shooter killed

Ima say this and Im done with this convo.

We need a right fucking now solution. That solution is to make it so you cant run up in schools all willy nilly. Enforce protocols that enaure the doors are watched and locked from the outside.

The funding is there . If we can send billions to ukraine while they over there fucking over black ppl we can protect the buildings our kids spend the majority of their day M-F in.

Then we can work on everything else.

I mean, we had metal detectors at schools in The City since maybe the late 80's/early 90's? I think Mumford got 'em at the front and back door back in '91, the year after I graduated. And the cop was posted up at the front door during the first few hours when students would come in.

It can happen and quickly if the government would toss money into it.

I'm sayin.

Pershing had detectors, police car outside and officers inside since I could remember. Ans once that bell rang, them doors was locked to the outside world. And if you got caught opening a door for someone, that was yo ass. In case of emergency, the doors could easily be opened from the insids by pushing the bar

We had random sweeps too. Youd show up one day and everybody getting searched.

Was it a hassle? Hell yeah, but with the exception of fist fights, we were safe in that place.

I aint sayin thats the final answer but its the most logical start. Doesnt even have to be extreme. A simple doors locked on outside, controlled access.

But what it is, though, is that's OUR experience as Black kids growing up. YT don't know none of that and, quite frankly, they don't want it for their kids. That's why they haven't implemented anything like that. It's cool when it's us but when it's their kids suddenly it's "I don't want my kids feeling like they're in prison when they go to school".

Everytime yall talk about whataboutisms with other countries, yall fail to mention society in general is better in said countries. Meaning better wages, standards of living social programs, healthcare etc. Im essence ppl commit less acts of violence when they have better quality of life.

This country was founded on blood which it refuses to atone for and is still in its infancy compared to the rest of the world. What worked for other countries wont work for the US. At least not until some root issues are addressed.

In the meantime, stop letting running up in schools be so damn easy is the first place to start. After that there are SOME restrictions O dont mind. But this pie in the sky ban all attitude is futile

We gonna act like Australia wasn’t founded round the same time as the US by the same folks? I get Europe being a different example but saying the US has the ability to pass reasonable restrictions isn’t false

Dude… Australia was literally where England sent their crazies, crooks murderers and rapists.

it was a prison continent first only becoming something modernized around the mid to late 70’s.

which is why they have all them fucked up laws over there still.

can’t trust a population that’s largely borne from…. Alll that

Abstract
The 1996-1997 NFA in Australia introduced strict gun laws, primarily as a reaction to the mass shooting in Port Arthur, Tasmania in 1996 where 35 people were killed. Using a battery of structural break tests, there is little evidence to suggest that it had any significant effects on firearm homicides and suicides. In addition, there does not appear to be any substitution effects, specifically that reduced access to firearms may have let those bent on committing homicide or suicide to use alternative methods. Although gun buybacks appear to be a logical and sensible policy that helps to placate the public's fears, the evidence so far suggests that in the Australian context, the high expenditure incurred to fund the 1996 gun buyback has not translated into any tangible reductions in terms of firearms deaths.

Oh and gun violence was on the decline BEFORE these measures were put in place. Reasonable steps the US could take have already been mentioned several times over. But yall dont wanna hear the truth. Banning guns will reduce violent gun crimes as much as banning drugs have reduced drug use and violence.

@konceptjones tag you it, Im outta here bro. Its pointless lol

That doesn't sound too different from the slave owners who were murdering and raping in the Americas that also had a bunch of batshit laws that kept anyone not white as 2nd class citizens even now.

If a shooter is determined to kill they are gonna kill.

Lock them out of the schools and they kill the kids outside.

Lock them from getting on school grounds and they will catch them at bus stops.

Can't get kids? They shoot up churches, grocery stores, movie theaters, concerts etc.

Gun violence is so common that there really is no safe place. So yeah, the government could spend a trillion dollars on making the schools safer but what about all the other soft targets out there?

Two months from now we will be arguing about another shooting.

. Suicides
. Murder
. Mass shootings

In 2020 it is estimated that 45k people died from gunshot wounds in America.

58k U. S. soldiers died throughout the entire Vietnam War that lasted for years.

Guns are the new weapons of mass destruction.

Stay safe yall.

When talking about gun control people say these people will just kill with something else if they are determined enough. They never consider that this determination also applies to their solutions. I guess they expect kids to never go outside when they are at school for recess.

Colt, Springfield Arms, Barrett, Kimber and Winchester weren’t founded out there either… so the over saturation of a country with firearms couldn’t happen

nope… allAustralia had was boomerangs and slingshots

When the last time they had a mass shooting in Australia? I’m not saying we are the exact same country like you feel I am. I am saying even mentioning gun control does not mean take your rights away. And that’s why I keep viewing y’all as off. I ain’t said take away the second amendment

Bruh I know the history of Australia nothing in your comment makes me think they not rednecks with different accents. And they used guns to treat the natives a certain way which is also known. You’re right maybe they didn’t have Springfield and Colt and shit

white folks will never give up without a real fight

remember when those federal Agent went to the bundy ranch? They drew down on them agents and had folks off in the distance aimed right at them

it would literally be a civil war here with so many deaths before that happen

And I hate to say it, we as a people (black) ain’t ready at all for something like that. We are to dependent on others for to much
