ABW Stock Exchange: All Things Investing

SWPPX tracks the S&P 500 and is a low cost index fund.

Thank me later !!!

No investment minimum and low nominal price of $41

I put some bread into SWPPX and was wondering why on TD Ameritrade it just said the order was OPEN.. and not FILLED a couple hours after I had did it.

The person I inquired about on the site said that since it's a mutual/index fund.. it won't say FILLED and go through until the end of the day.

This is a Mutual Fund and they do not fill until the end of the day when the mutual fund company recalculates there Net Asset Value. It will be filled at the end of the trading day.

ETF's on the other hand trade like stocks so they can fill right away.

still learning but figured I'd share that bit for those that are just getting started as well.

@Sion @DOS_patos does that sound about right?

I can't predict what medical company will find a breakthrough but shit is so cheap you could prolly buy anything and still do handsomely well.
Yea im not gonna speculate too crazy as i dont know much about pharmaceuticals. I may wait until the human trials are underway and see how successful they go.

When you buy or redeem a mutual fund, you are transacting directly with the fund, whereas with ETFs and stocks, you are trading on the secondary market. Unlike stocks and ETFs, mutual funds trade only once per day, after the markets close at 4 p.m. ET. If you enter a trade to buy or sell shares of a mutual fund, your trade will be executed at the next available net asset value, which is calculated after the market closes and typically posted by 6 p.m. ET. This price may be higher or lower than the previous day's closing NAV.

Some equity and bond funds settle on the next business day, while other funds may take up to 3 business days to settle. If you exchange shares of one fund for another fund within the same fund family, the trade will usually settle on the next business day.

I would call just to double check. If it says "OPEN" sounds like you accidentally did it as "good till cancelled" which is a common mistake. Did you complete the transaction as a "market order" or something else? If it was done as a market order it will transaction immediately if it was done as something else generally it'll be done by end of day or at another time. Sounds to me like you might have done it as "good till cancelled" or as "limit". Double check to make sure and let me know.

I appreciate the info yall for real.

Will do. I checked a few other funds when I was looking into SWPPX - VOO, VTI, SPY etc.

I was presented the ability to do a market or limit order on the others but for SWPPX it just asked how much in dollars.

Airline companies hit record lows. Just pick any major airline and buy shares NOW. In a day or two a bailout is gonna be announced and shit is gonna sky rocket. Im thinking up 15-20% from todays prices. Sell the shares soon as the bailout is announced. This aint a long term play.

Im talking real life btw. Not just the game. I just dropped a stack on united.

@Sion what say you?
