COMMUNITY 6yo student shot a teacher leaving the teacher in critical condition during an altercation at a Virginia elementary school

Not true.

At least two people have been killed and six injured after an 11-year-old boy entered a school in northern Mexico with two handguns and opened fire.

The shooting took place on Friday morning in the city of Torreón, in Coahuila state.

One of the dead was reportedly a female teacher, with some reports suggesting she had been the shooter’s target. The other was the shooter, who police said had killed himself.
Big difference between 11 and 6 year olds.

I stand by my original statement.

Lock the parent(s) up with mandatory minimums, anytime this shit happens. I say start at 15 and if it results in death 30 to Life.

Guns aint the problem, its irresposible ass ppl and banning them may make some of yall feel all warm and fuzzy but the reality is criminals will continue to get one so it wont have the desired affect.

The proliferation of guns and gun culture in this country are the goddamned problem. But people will look at even absolutely ludicrous stories such as this one and still want to bury their head in the sand.

You don't have to ban guns, but you would have to dramatically alter how guns are procured to prevent "irresponsible ass" people from getting their hands on them in the first place. And gun advocates don't want that to happen because they don't want to be inconvenienced.

I aint bout to argue with you "omg these guns!" Ass niggas

It aint got shit to do with being inconvienced, we just understand common damn sense and logic. How the hell you gonna make guns harder to get for criminals that dont follow laws?

Guns will still be made, which means the demand will still be there, even higher if you ban em, which means ppl will smuggle them bitches in. At that point only criminals amd rich ppl will have them.

Now wtf does that actually solve? Jack shit. But yall will "feel" better.

This is a bit of a straw man here… A lot of these cases, the shooters aren’t even “criminals” (until they start shooting innocent people of course)

These are up until that point, just regular law abiding people, for the most part, out in society, until they make that decision.

Think back on pretty much any damn mass shooting, we’ve experienced. Almost none of them were “career criminals”.

Every criminal has a first offense. My point is, if ppl are criminal minded, they will find a way. So even if they cant get a gun from a store because they're banned, they will get a gun.

You're right, but only because of where we are now in America. Meaning, given gun ownership is a written into the bill of rights, Americans will pay, fight, even die to keep their guns. It's the only history America knows, so to take away guns now people would riot.

The issue is the guns, bottomline. When was the last time you heard a story like this coming from England?

The thing people forget about the 2nd is that this shit was written centuries ago when the chance of invasion was possible. The 2nd was good for that time so any mf could arm up and fight back.

Who's trying to invade America today? Mfs would nuke America of the map before trying to invade.

  1. Assault rifle ban.
  2. Voluntary gun buybacks with no questions asked to incentive reduction of firearms in circulation
  3. Football numbers given out to those who are found in possession of a banned or unregistered firearm. Double if it's also found to have been used in the commission of a crime.
  4. Significant punishment for guns owners whose weapons are used in the commission of a crime without having first been reported as stolen.
  5. A licensing system similar to a drivers license that must be completed prior to purchasing firearms legally. Ie. Safety courses, a learners permit with X amount of hours that must be completed, and varying classes of licenses that permit you to own and/or operate different classes of firearms.
  6. As a part of your licensing you must also show proof of purchase of a proper gun storage safe with verifable space inside at the time of any new purchase.
  7. Also as part of licensing is the creation of a gun registry (again similar to driving and registering your vehicle) that would establish chain of custody for all firearms in the United States.
That's an incomplete list, there's still mental health provisions and red flag laws that would also make obtaining a firearm legally more difficult for would-be wrongdoers.

With just those few things you can dramatically reduce the amount of unregistered firearms available to criminals and make it harder for would be criminals to obtain them legally. (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/magazine-38365729.amp here's a country that took just those steps as a proof of concept of what can be done with enough political will.)

Now, if a criminal still wants to commit a crime with a gun then they may well go ahead and do so, but that's true of anything illegal. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't respond to the gun epidemic this country clearly has with sensible measures. That is a zero sum argument made by gun manufacturers that don't want to see a dent in their potential market.

"It aint the guns...it's umm, umm it's the Six year olds! Yeah that's the ticket!"

We agree mommy was irresponsible and that's how the goddamn toddler was able to get the gun in the first place? (Let alone the perverse culture that would create a scenario where a six year old knows how to obtain and operate a firearm while also possessing the desire to use it to harm their TEACHER!)

But okay mommy is at fault, we can agree? Cool. The problem is that people that reckless are allowed to obtain guns legally as is true of this case. She should have had to prove that she was of sound mind, had operational knowledge, and capable of safely storing a gun before she could buy one. That obviously was not the case and that's the problem. A problem that is specific to this country. A problem that could be fixed if so desired but people are too absorbed in their own "rugged independence" to do what is needed.

So since mommy is responsible there needs to be a law on the books that causes her to be placed in prison for a very long time. Enough time to give people pause so that they don't too leave their legally purchased firearm laying around to be used by a SIX YEAR OLD to SHOOT THEIR TEACHER again.
