2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Kyler Murray measurements came out today he basically Russell Wilson size with slightly smaller hands. I’m not entirely convinced Arizona won’t draft him number 1 and trade Rosen.

an entire inch is huge when it comes to hands

And that weight is not his playing weight for him. He put on them pounds just for the combine and I bet he don't even run with that weight.

Plus I just don't see him as good

Shrugs

They already said he don’t plan on throwing he’ll do all that shit at his pro day most likely.

Yeah he proly plays around 185-190

I can see him trying to bulk up to 210-215

dont know how much speed he would sacrifice

might be the diffrence between 4.5 . and 4.6 for him

I think he is a bit overated as well...even if he goes to an air raid offense...these are pros bro...niggas aint finna be just running wide open...gotta be able to anticipate and throw guys open and fit in some tight windows...

@BDP™️

A lot drills says a lot about a player. ( I don't think throwing at the combine matter but hat the pro does. Gotta see if he zip it in person

You can look good playing corner in college but if your hips are trash and 3 cone drill is trash you gon get killed in the NFL

true...even still the combine is more about your measurable as an athlete than your actual talent as a football player

the importance of drills do vary by player tho

Drills aren't as important as folks try to make it seem. If a corners hips are truly trash and they playing in big 5 conference the tape will show that easy. Ain't but so much a player can hide on tape when the competition is good.

IMO more players have been busts being workout warriors getting drafted too high than its has from whats been on tape being false advertising.

You can have trash hips and still be good in college. QBs in college can make all the throws and then boys stay running zone.

Very few colleges run man where you can tell of a player is really a cover guy with good hips.

IMO its very few corners PERIOD that are real deal man to man guys

I didn't say he can't be good. I said having trash hips are going to show on tape.

I disagree with this one due to college QBs limitations

But I respect your stance

you can isolate one on one matchups and see mirroring techniques, how he turns and runs, speed turns, change of directions, how fast he breaks and ball skills...

you can do all of that without really factoring in the skill of the QB

Exactly.

I'm trusting the tape more than I'm trusting drills and workouts without pads on. Even though both are important I put more stock in the tape.

He can look good on tape lining up against a so-so WR But its not the same as seeing it in person up close.

Which your point about a private workout is great. Have him go against a NFL WR and see how them hips work

most drills are trash but the short drills and them 10 yard split is crucial to see if a player has the tools athletics wise to play the next level.

Technique and short area quickness is crucial for CB and WR which I think DB as a whole have the most to gain at the combine.

A dude can look quick in college but tape lies all the time

You learn shit about a O or Dlineman or QB at the combine

I do agree that the combine does benefit the DBs and WRs the most...cause realistically the drills they run are a direct correlation to what they do on the field...

it can help and hurt

but still

tape>>>

My perfect example is Joe Haden

didnt test well athletically at the combine...but his tape showed he was legit

well at one point Haden was considered a top 5 corner
