All that shit is in hindsight,but dany didn't know how long a war with Cersei would last even with her Dragons after Drogon got hit the first time.

it was the best choice to handle the threat of the dead first

Exactly. Had she taken King's Landing top of Season 7, Cersei would have been out the way and they could have taken on the Night King.

I don't like that path, but it would have been possible.

The whole reason Dany agreed to let Jon mine the dragon glass was because she was in a position of weakness at that point and needed an ally.

If she woulda took KL right away she woulda been in a position of strength.. woulda been cocky on some bend the knee shit... no dragon glass.. no knowledge on how to fight the WW, no Bran and even more dead to fight once the NK marched to KL

Cersei didn’t break Dany, she was already broken. She tried her hardest to get the ppl to trust her but they didn’t, even before she destroyed KL.

She was broken when she seen how the ppl responded to Snow and when she heard the news. The people have never liked her. She freed the only people who loved and trusted her, the unsullied, plus losing her babies and Mormont.

John and her cant have a relationship, there’s that love lost too.

This is why she didn’t want the secret to be told to Sansa. Sansa knew what she was doing and if anything she’s the one who really won, she let Dany destroy Cersei and knew Dany was already going to self sabotage.

She didn’t care about trust. It didn’t matter, she never had it to begin with. So, why not say fuck it and destroy absolutely everything? She’s just going to use the Cersei tactic, she sees how stupid people are, another reason she didn’t care. She can rule w an iron fist now.

Arya has a different outlook, though.

Nah you gotta give Cersei more credit than that. She was getting handed Ls left and right at the hands of Cersei all s7. The losses made way for the mental break to creep in s8. Dany was already mad (as in angry) at those around her like Tyrion and then she started losing things she really cared about.

The past few season, Cersei has been part of all the planning and knew what was going on. She doesn't have to be a fighter to be in command of the situation or to understand what was going on. During the battle, she was just sitting there hoping on hope and completely clueless. Even at her worst, she's never been that oblivious.

And Dany didn't need to do anything. The city had already given up. She was literally only attacking civilians and soldiers who had already surrendered. It was also completely pointless. Dany was already told that Cersei didn't give two shits about those people, so Dany wasn't really accomplishing anything by killing those innocent people other than letting her own madness run free.

lol Tyrion told her that Dany was going to do that. She knew to expect it. My issue isn't that she didn't have some way of dealing Drogon. My problem is that she was sitting in the Red Keep resting on nothing but her own optimism. She could basically see everything going to hell, but she still didn't do anything but sit there and hope on hope that it would all work out somehow. And she didn't remember that she wanted her baby to live until they were basically condemned? Love or hate Cersei, her character wasn't that weak or foolish in the show. If nothing else, she would have made sure she had a route to make a quick exit and she wouldn't have waited until the Red Keep was falling down around her to use it. They basically took away her will for expediency. The needed to kill her off relatively quickly, so they basically took away everything they established about her cunningness.

Ya'll continue to miss my point. I don't have issue with the fact that her plans weren't good enough. I'm talking about the way she took it. We've seen Cersei in life or death situations before and she didn't cower or lose her nerve like that. She's shown herself to be able to keep it together and someone reason things out even when everything has gone to shit. In this episode, she behaved like a retard. She was hoping that they were going to get a shot with the ballistas even though she could already see all of them burning. She was hoping that someone from the fleet would get a shot, even though she could clearly see into the bay knew the ships were gone. She believed her soldiers would fight to the death for her even though she knew their loyalty was tenuous at best. The most important thing to her was supposedly her child, but she didn't want to try to get to safety until forced and even then didn't mention her child until she was basically dead. My issue isn't about what she did or didn't do. It's about how they seemed to reverse every bit of characterization they established for her.
