Welcome To aBlackWeb

I never said it wasn't a good movie.

All I said was the social media marketing generated a crazy hype spectacle surrounding it.

Can you with a straight face say it was the best movie of 2018??

I think it's forum wide shared opinion that infinity war was better.

So why isn't infinity war the top rotten tomatoes movie or whatever??

Y'all just refuse to admit I'm making good points.....

They took the hottest black director...

They took every top black actor they could grab.....I mean they even had Angela Bassett and Forrest Whitaker for crying out loud

And they took a gamble that this movie could be genuine enough to resonate with the consumer power of black america at Large...

It was a gamble.... But not a mistake....

There's no such thing as a billion dollar mistake....

lol Again, by your logic a movie studio could never put a movie about a group of people in the hands of personnel from that group without pandering. BP is a story told in Africa about some Africans. Why would they not get a black director and mostly black cast and crew. That only makes sense. You're basically saying that, since Marvel chose to give black people a chance to make a black oriented superhero movie, they were pandering. That's silly. I guess DC was pandering by making Wonder Woman and getting a well known female director huh?

bcuz people are denying captain marvel is pandering, and they are offended at the notion that bp pandered.....

i can admit that wonder woman was pondering.....

pandering means to gratify or indulge, to purposely give people what you think they want to your own ends

itls like donald trump buying college kids mcdonalds at the white house...

"oh they're kids, they'll love it... when i was in college, i used to love to be able to sneak off and go to mcdonalds. i'm doing them a favor, they should thank me"

marvel gave yall black panther, and now yall act like yall owe them yall lives....

where i say that wonderwoman wasn't

Cuz wonder woman is a bigger character..... And the movie was a bigger deal.

But I don't think they dialed up the women empowerment to a thousand.

They were still complaining about a love interest, and the costume being to revealing.

Captain marvel don't even like men and she wearing a fucking bodysuit that ain't even tight.

This is definitely much more feminist friendly

Can I borrow this right quick @shutupGabi

what are you talking about??? if you read my post and the post before it, it clearly shows that i'm admitting they did, just not to the level of captain marvel

and i pointed out two key examples why.....

that's why these arguments go on so long, yall be lacking reading comprehension

Captain marvel is pandering but wonder woman wasn't.......

It actually wasn't.

Wonder Woman is a traditional female superhero who was always a woman.

There was no pandering to her.

Women just naturally rallied around that movie because it was the first time there was a major motion picture that centered around a female comicbook superhero.

Arguably, outside of the Dark Knight movies, Wonder Woman might be the best movie D.C.'s ever put out since the 1st 2 Christopher Reeves Superman movies.

You still on this despite people telling you the source material that was used huh?

That comment was more about Wonder Woman than Captain Marvel.

Still doesn't change the fact that the movie studio/production company or whatever actually admitted that they were intentionally trying to appeal to a feminist audience.

Who are they pandering to? The current captain marvel in the comics is a woman. They didnt make it up in production just to have a female hero and appease female moviegoers. Obviously they want those demographics to be pleased with their representation, but they didnt make these minority characters up (CM and BP) last minute to throw us bones. They're using civil war and infinity war source material. Lol.

Like Lonious Monk said, by this logic, any movie made that doesn't feature a white male is pandering.

Marvel does try to give its fans what they want. That's true, so if you call that pandering, then fine, almost every movie they make is pandering to someone. But that's a silly standard for pandering. The point is they are making comic book movies and they are trying to appeal to as large an audience as they can. Does that mean they will make movies that they hope will appeal to a variety of demographics? Of course. You call that pandering. I call it smart business. The point is they put the same effort in care in all these movies. They aren't pulling what Tyler Perry does and just putting out bullshit because he knows his fans will eat it up.

The saving Grace was that the movie was good.

However that cgi fight in the vibranium mines was horse shit...

Another aspect aquaman excelled in.

Atlantis looked better than Wakanda, and the cgi fights were much better
