Guns in America

whoa? pedantic? wow! LOL!

but really, i too try to grapple with this gun dilemma. the greatest mess is thinking everybody should have a gun on their person. if trained officers get nervous, imagine 90% of the citizenry walking around strapped. imagine the bystander body count. imagine the stray bullet body count. but all in all what can be done in the event of rogue government? it's a hard one. i offer no solution to this necessity. and it's absolutely necessity. cant put the toothpaste back in the bottle, but i wonder the stats on automobile accidents? or tolerated death levels from medicine. a million ways to die, choose one.
this is one of those we have to surrender to...there is nothing that can be done to change it. maybe get that neuralyser and wipe all memory of the invention.
maybe the closest solution would be equalizing the citizenry where there are no hardships

Damn I’m glad I missed this thread. Same shit, different thread. More expecting different results with the same actions (or lack thereof).

Good brother NightKing, what do you want to happen?
I’ve argued these points ad nauseam. I’d like an assault weapons ban, capacity limits, limits on the number of guns and amount of ammo that can be owned by individuals, etc.

Also, red flag laws, mental health assistance, etc.

Ban lobbying from the gun lobby (and lobbying in general truthfully, it’s just bribery with a better name).

Hey man. Relax. Only reason I asked was to have your opinion in one place.

Capacity limits hurt the average citizen when it comes to self defense.

The only way they could limit the number of guns people own is if there were a registry.

I don’t know how they could possibly limit the amount of ammo someone owns but I could see them limiting how much one could buy at one time.

I agree with the idea of red flag laws if done right.

I agree with banning lobbying for the gun lobby.

Nah, there's something else in play here.

We had full blown machine guns for sale to the public in the 70's to mid-80's and this shit wasn't going on.

Something has radically changed in some of these people, or something sinister is afoot. And it ain't the whole "guns are too easy to get" malarkey either because back when you could buy an actual fully automatic genuine assault rifle you didn't need a background check we didn't have shootings on this level. Today you can't buy them at all and you need a fed background check to get what's legally available and suddenly, literally in the last 3-5 years, we're seeing a huge surge in the number of these incidents.

Nah, fuck that, there's something else happening.

There was no malice intended, was just saying.

I’m cool with a registry. Cars have to be registered, why not machines whose only purpose is to kill?

Yes, ammo limits in total are a long shot, so your suggestion of limits per purchase will suffice.

Nobody is saying it’s just the access. It’s the access In combination with today’s societal dynamics. So if the societal dynamics change, the access needs to change. You are not changing the societal dynamics quickly enough to deal with this problem. You can enact common sense gun laws now that could save many (not all) lives.

I don’t know why that’s so hard to understand.

Registry would lead to an eventual confiscation. That’s historical. Every nation/country that has had a registry eventually confiscated the guns from their citizens.

Oh it’s something else happening.

People are more unhinged and “informed” than ever. People are being self-indoctrinated to kill people as forms of social protest. This shit is nuts.

And real quick…

When these mass random shootings happen, do y’all think that pro-2a people are celebrating or are happy when this happens?

Nah, I don’t think that. I just think they make a ton of excuses to keep their guns even when kids are dying.
