Proposed Solutions


1. Improved support circles. A relationship shouldn't isolate someone from their support circle like family and friends.....people should be able to check in and/or visit their loved ones every so often just to make sure they're in a healthy relationship. This is something that more than one person should be charged with

2. Improves sense of community. We needa start interacting, befriending, and loving our neighbors and our communities again. It's something that's desperately missing from black society, and we need to consciously rebuild it with a purpose. a new couple moves in, show up with some baked goods. do that old school shit... make sure he ain't knocking her head lose every night when he get home...

this shit isn't as simple as "man stop hitting woman, man bad" thing... it's a community thing, it's an everybody thing....we all need to be more involved.......
 
I'd add in educating each other, especially on trades. Share ways to make money with each other and trade/buy from each other. The barter system is still used in many communities that flourish.

One of the other elements missing is Love. Niggas don't love themselves, So how are we gonna expect them to Love and or treat anyone with respect.

Niggas need to get peace with themselves before embarking out into the world.

Women knowing self defense is a must. Same with the youth.

I've learned that the police don't really do much in stalking situations. The woman calls the police, they say well call us back when he's beating your ass, then we can help. So a woman being able to physically fight and shoot a firearm is definitely a must in our community.
 
Shame and embarrassment have left us. No one feels that way anymore and that is one of the reasons why people are the way they are. Also people don’t care about honoring their ancestors. So everything is acceptable instead of people checking you for nonsense behavior

they're slowly beginning to introduce laws that recognize the risk of stalking. Ive personally seen police switch their tune when law n policy is updated. they get put under pressure to show they're addressing it now that iit's suddenly seen as a valid crime.

Agree with you. My homie Miguel can trace his family roots back to a small village in Mexico, and has photos and ppl there to prove it. Homie is all about bringing pride to his family.

The average American Black male may be able to go back a generation or 2 accurately. If we can understand and Love who we are, we can bring back that sense of Pride, and the guilt of shame and embarrassment.

Where do we start though?

I think the answers generally lie in a stronger family unit. Especially with our men doing more to be better fathers to their sons and daughters. Everything else is white noise.

I believe that to be A solution. Getting to that point is the hard part because it requires so much responsibility and accountability to our men as a whole. It's not, however, asking anything of us that we shouldn't already be doing, but you know some niggas is dead set on doing the opposite just cuz.

Us having this discussion and offering multiple ideas is a good start.

Also we need to focus on the mental side of abuse as well. I feel that's worse than the physical. Free them from the mindset that they're life is nothing w/o the person that's mentally abusing them.

We have to address the mental side of things. I know PTSD is real, and we have a lot of it ongoing and untreated in our community. That's why a lot of us smoke,sip lean, turn to sex, heroin etc. And end up dying from trying to escape the mental anguish.

How we go about is the question.
 
I just seen the movie, Killmonger hemed up one woman and fought 3 others. But wasn’t overtly harming women...I mean he killed one but he killed a white Man too, so
 
We start by letting our children, Bretheren and Sistren know that certain acts are not acceptable. People feel like they cant tell someone their behavior is not acceptable. Or we let our friends behavior slide because they are our friends/family. As far as action. You have to tell your children that they represent you and your ancestors which every decision. Let them know that even if they are not embarrassed they are embarrassing you and their name. Make them feel like it is an honor to carry that name.
