The Official DCU Thread

Do we really need a DCEU though? I’d rather have stand alone films or epic trilogies...

Warner bros tried to replicate the Disney marvel cash cow formula but failed monstrously, DCs strength lies within their almost limitless source material and the only film I’m really looking forward to is the Nolanesque standalone film from Reeves and the live action lantern corps series...

WB gives no fucks and would rather drop mediocre films according to their failed business model instead of dropping original gems or bring a live action Superman Red Son to the big screen...

If they follow their animated model they'll be fine. It's the perfect mix of solo efforts and group films that aren't od on continuity.

But the people calling the shots in the boardroom so out of touch with the streets.

The way the animated movies worked towards that darkseid v trigon fight was beautiful. I didn't even peep the parallels until the last movie...

But when the animated universe won....was what I been saying for a while.

They need the batfamily.

Dick Grayson and Damien Wayne had a crazy good run of teen titans movies

Harley had a great first, and an okay 2nd suicide squad

Batman had a nice run with Damien.... Then he got into the justice league dark with constantine n swamp thing

They KILLED the death of superman arc..... Like it was a highlight.....

Aquaman and wonder woman had decent solos

Then when the darkseid war came they brought everybody together....

These niggaz got WRECKED in the first fight..... Niggga injected kryptonite into clarks blood stream, and had raven looking like a fiend.... Shit was wild...

But they pulled off some crazy shit that had it been on the big screen....I think the overall perception of the potential of these movies would shift for a lot of fans...

Shit if we could have gotten a ben affleck the dark knight returns trilogy I would have been content

FIRE.
EVERYBODY.

How many times can you be allowed to fuck up and still keep your job... only to fuck up some more!

WB is in the same boat as Fox was and Sony Pictures still is at this point to me.... Fuck them.

Even when they somehow manage to stumble upon something that works.... the execs get involved and ruin it the next iteration

If I'm not mistaken, they have some relatively new people.

The folks that was fuckn up when BvS, JL, & SS came out, ain't the same ones running things now.

damn. I thought I saw something about studio interference with WW84 as well so even if they did fire some folks the interference seems to still be an issue

Shazam has been the only good non Nolan DC movie. Everything else has been Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern tier trash.

It's weird cause Titans and Doom Patrol both hit so it's not like they can't do good live action stuff. But they keep fumbling their movies.

I'm kinda shaky on this new mk movie as big of a fan as I am, it's out in april and not a single piece of footage has come out yet.

Simple issue is they don't have a mind like kevin feige's overseeing things and board members that have put complete confidence behind the person in that role. Until that happens what we've seen will be the status quo.
They tried that with Geoff Johns and that ended terribly.

The news mill says that the one person Patty Jenkins kept on board from the first WW was Geoff and he was her source material guide in making WW84. Ironically, for all the great source material he's written for DC, he's never written Wonder Woman.

:hahaha:

I think one if their biggest fuck ups was their over reliance on Batman.

Every single fucking thing they do, they just have to put Batman in there somehow instead of building up the other tons great characters they have. It's like they learned all the wrong lessons from MOS, WW, and Aquaman.

At this point, fuck a shared continuity, even this multiverse shit which I think they're still going to fuck up. That's the magic bullet they're going to use and still miss the target.

If we could have gotten all that over the span of a decade or whatever on the big screen shit would’ve been beautiful

As far as making movies? Or these headlines?

Cause I feel like alot of DC film backlash is because the public gets a hold of headlines and measures the movies up against them, which makes positive reception damn near impossible.

All of the above but specifically with the flash film. The setbacks if that shit doesn't hit...

That arc is important for all the JL characters.

Personally they should do a film similar to 20th century Fox's Xmen: Days of Future Past and that way they would have a clean slate up until the end of Man of Steel. Then just do a movie similar to Justice League War as a platform to do other introductory movies for Batman, Martian Maneater etc. The Green Lantern arc is too big to put into a movie and should be a TV series to expand on the other Lantern Corps such as Red, White, Black etc. By then Warner Brothers may have a shot of taking the Shine off Marvel Studio's crown.
