PIs it a distraction

I think y’all creating this narrative that they want to be divided. They want to be included but if the in group don’t want them then maybe you gotta do your own thing. You would think black people would understand this easily
Im not understanding how they can feel as if they are not included when police brutality and systemic racism and white supremacy is a BLACK issue regardless of gender or sexuality bro.

and those comments by Billy Porter are really off base...to equate black cis genders to white supremacy is extreme and meant to be divisive in my opinion

Just this week the gay community was extended the protections of the civil rights bill.
This was a win for the gay community, including white gays that practice anti-black racism against black gays.

Other groups attaching themselves to our coattails, with their own agenda, and getting what they want while we still struggling, is unacceptable.
It's not common sense, it's not logical, it's not constructive, it is only exploitive.
This is why we need to stop letting our movements get derailed and our methods undermined.

Fighting against anti-black racism has always meant for all black people.
Nobody excluded the black gay community from that. Nobody excluded black women from that.
All black people are being killed at an alarming rate, all black people are suffering injustice, all black people have whammy's stacked on top of them.
One group of black people thinking their suffering is more special than the other will solve nothing.
We have been crying and praying for unity, every time we gain it this tribal shit happens and it hurts us.
This is literally the divide and conquer tactic being played in front of our eyes.

No solution to any of our problems means anything if we don't stay on code to address this anti-black racism first.
I guarantee if all this gender sexuality bullshit was solved tomorrow, we'd still have another black person found hanging from the tree this week.

It’s not really a thing. Some black lbgqt painted it in Hollywood and now everybody that’s not gay thinks it’s going to tarnish black peoples goals

@Hellczar might have a point here.... Outside of the Billy Porter shit and that Hollywood joint... I haven't seen a concerted effort to really hijack what folks are out on the street protesting for...

Umm ok
Thanks for the clarification

Blacks lives matter to me stands for all black lives. Black American, Black Canadian, Black Puerto Rican, Aborigines, black gay black paraplegic etc

Idk y niggaz love to get in each others way

But they have been gunned down by us and we shrugged and kept it moving. I’m not saying black on black crime is excused. But we are a small ethnic group numbers wise wouldn’t it be smarter to get on the same page so we can get it done faster. Are people supposed to wait for you to hear them

No one is asking them to wait to be heard. Just don't fracture the movement. Right now the focus should be on police reform. There is no need to split up BLM into different groups to address that. We should be working towards that goal as a united front because as you yourself admitted, it's a common problem. You keep on saying that we don't have to focus on more than one thing at a time. Cool, give me an example of a social movement in this country that tried to simultaneously tackled a wide range of different causes and managed to successfully accomplish anything.

Also, both black women and LBGQT groups say that they have unique problems that aren't being addressed by these movements. That's probably true, but what black subgroups are being addressed individually? See, we know the argument being made whether they say it or not is that all these groups are always marching for black men but we don't support them. That's a lie though because none of this is just for black men. Everyone, even nonblacks stand to benefit from this fight.

Black men have disproportionately high suicide rates and poor health. Black boys are lagging behind all other groups when it comes to education and employment for younger men. Black men have trouble getting fair decisions in family court. Black men are disproportionately hurt by the justice system. We could go on an on. There are a ton of concerns that Black men could focus on, but people aren't any more concerned with those issues than they are with singular issues for other groups. The police problem is being addressed because that's the most in your face problem right now. Why is it a problem for us to ask that everyone stay focused and unified to fix the problem to everyone's benefit before succumbing to infighting about whose individual problems should receive more spotlight?

seems divisive to me because, "Black Lives Matter" already encompasses ALL black lives.

No need to split hairs to say... oh ALL Black Lives Matter includes LGBTQ+ black folks too.

Seems unnecessary and again... Divisive.

I'd be interested to hear someone who doesn't think it's divisive make their case tho

Just another tactic to divide and distract.

Just to add some context to this though... June is apparently pride month... so being objective here... that may have something to do with the combining of messages we've been seeing lately.

Thats a whoooooole lot of people in that crowd. Im sure not all of them are apart of the LGBTQ+ community... I think it's fairly safe to say that the majority of the people there are against cops killing black folks and brutalizing us in the streets tho. jussayin.

I still stand by my take that Billy Porters comments were divisive though

If a social movement is having divisions and distractions don’t they do their best to address it before it becomes a bigger issue? How do black women and lbgqt somehow hold up police reform? Who is the opposition to police reform? Nobody black. We know it’s all those Republican Trump supports etc. Every social movement has multi layered objectives it’s literally an entire social movement. What are they doing that’s taking away from the conversation of police reform and defunding? All they said was we matter too as lbgqt black people. Everybody knows by now they face unique challenges while being black. The fact y’all look at this as divisive when you can acknowledge it respect and keep everything moving is crazy.

Instead it’s this big pushback and black men feeling attacked.

My issue with trans ppl having ABLM movement is that it kinda suggests that straight men are killing trans, when it's other gay men who probably kill trans or also it's possible that trans ppl get killed and it has nothing to do w/ them being trans at all.

Straight men aren't dealing with trans to want to or be able to kill them

Any dude that pressed to kill a trans gotta be gay themselves.

The BLM movement as an organization is already lead by LGBTQ ppl

They been took that over anyway

In atl I see them BLM signs on mad random ppl's cribs.

IDK if they're black or whatever, but I think a lot of ppl flying those signs are white.

but where were all these white ppl when Trump won?

Most the instances I hear usually similar to this (which is a new article)

The argument turns into "they should've told the guy he/she was trans"

To "it doesn't warrant death", "he/she shouldn't have to disclose that info" etc

You're acting like all we need to do is ask the powers to be one time for police reform and it will happen. That's not really how it works, and you know that. We basically have to keep the pressure on nonstop until something happens. Again, what is the problem with us saying that all this has popped off because of police brutality, so how about we actually get some results in that area before we drown out that message with a bunch of other messages?

And while I don't know if any of these people are trying to attack black men, I'd ask them a couple questions. If they believe that heir concerns aren't being addressed, who do they feel is responsible for that? And whose concerns do they believe are actually being addressed? If both black women and black LBGTQ have basically teamed up to levy these charges, who does that leave?

that right there is the problem nobody has said black women or black lbgqt struggle is more important than black straight people. Never even implied it. If that’s all of y’alls opinion it’s completely wrong and causing even more miscommunication. Don’t make up narratives to make a point. We have been addressing anti black racism since we got here and we always will. They supposed to wait for us to beat racism?

You all easily understand COINTELPRO but don’t feel that not addressing these things would make it easier to be a victim of it? If we ended racism today it would still be a black woman somewhere getting slapped in public and niggas laughing or getting thrown in a dumpster. Or some black lesbians getting raped and murdered. You can’t tell people wait hold on now not the time. And then get mad when they do their own thing lol

I don’t really trust most of these white folks out here. Trump said grab em by the pussy and they ain’t give a fuck. I think a lot or just saying they with it so they don’t get fired.
