Welcome To aBlackWeb

Who was the bigger artist from 96-01?

It's Dark & Hell Is Hot being ranked 25th is crazyyy - mal voice
well, the way i look at it is, compared to that other list, we know there were way more than 100 albums dropped right,

so if DMX, even if you disagree with the placement within the 25, isnt it good enough to have cracked the top 4th of albums released that year?

lol no.

Is it an honor for Illmatic to be ranked 25th on the top 100 rap albums of alltime? nah lol

I'll tell ya'll what i told Knock

freshman year HS AP would definitely put mystikal or probably any other No Limit album ahead of practically everyone who was out during that time. Their music was the soundtrack to my formidable years.

So i can concede to knock that Mystikal may have a claim to being the bigger artist during that span, but his body of work, while no slouch, is not better than Outkast's body of work with me being 36 now, and that should be ok.

Barbershop talk.

As we were going back and forth and we are talking "real time" when it happened that's what I'm solely focused on, not 2019 or the after facts, when these dudes have fallen out of grace, Outkast was not that group or seen as that group. Mystikal, as I stated had 5 albums, more features, a bigger fan base. The dude had put out more material than Outkast in that time frame, and in "real time" more ppl were checking for Mystikal than Outkast

i disagree with the metrics you are using as the end all be all to count who was checking for who though

first time seeing this list

out of 100 albums, i think 4/5 are from no limit, none of them are mystikal...hmmm

another list

this one is the top 25

no mystikal album

As I was saying, we are talking "real time" NL and CMR combined had a total of close to 30 albums to dropped in that year alone and you mean to tell me only 2 makes the list??

It's not like NL wasn't the number one rap label, so you can't say that they were trash in 1998. You can't even say that they put out lesser artists that year, that year alone, their heavy hitters release projects, some being their 1st projects and had a big anticipation energy surrounding them. You can't even go with the sales angle, because out the gate 1st week, they sold units, without radio or video, so again, speaking in 'real time' it's bias.

The problem with Knock is talks in absolutes lol To say "outkast wasn't that group", that couldn't be further from the truth.

"Nobody was checking for kast" <<<< bullshit, Stankonia sold more than Mystikal entire discography alone.

They both were huge artists. No need to downplay one group to big up the other.

Remember in that time frame what was the scope. Being Pop was not the wave, Hard-core rap/gangsta rap was the wave. Drake wouldn't have sold that much in that time frame IMO

Now that i've gone back to see what singles were released, Kast was bigger, but Mystikal wasn't that far behind.

And i'm talkin about my frame of mind back then, kast was still bigger.

In that time frame in the title, who was reaching out to have Outkast on their albums? What artists? Mystikal was the one who featured them on "his" record.

In that time frame, Outkast was not even considered a top 5 group on the south if we talking real time, niggas would quickly place 8ball and G over them in a milli second.
