My question is what’s the road map out of this?
Vaccines mostly prevent severe illness and death, but not transmission
We still wearing masks in some places and social distancing in fewer
Boosters are out, some have predicted 3 boosters a year will be recommended (this message brought to you by Pfizer)
Scientists have said COVID variants will be in the ecosystem for the next 50 years at least
When do we start treating this thing like the flu? Why are NFL games still being postponed? We just rocking like this for the next half century?
my two pennies...people are just selfish as FUCK
people will knowingly have the flu and still go to work
they know their kids have pink eye and still send them to school/daycare
now, the underlining issue may be our society has created this issue by penalizing people for using sick leave or try to guilt trip them into not using their sick leave or give them a bunch of hoops to jump through to actually use the damn sick leave
but be that as it may, using your example, how many players in the various sports miss time because of the flu? I dont want you to google or some shit cause im not debating you, i just wanted to respond to your post, but i know it's not that many...hell, people even lie about the injury report and say flu like symptoms so players can miss games and they be back the next night, and it never seems like the shit spreads among the rest of the team or opponents to say they are in very close quarters as well.
My larger point is, and i think im in agreement with most is that had the government acted swiftly initially, we might have "returned to normal" a hell of a lot sooner but humans, greed and arrogance prevented that, but im also one of the few who dont want things to return to normal b/c people are trifling as fuck and this showed me just how inconsiderate most people you come into contact with are.
Then you have people who think that they should be able to move about freely even when shit isnt safe for them to do so or dont think enough of their families to get vaccinated so they can be around them in close quarters.
and my biggest point has always been, if you choose to not get the shot...fine, but you cant have it both ways to be unmasked, not practice social distancing, washing hands, etc... and wanna be out all willy nilly at the same time.
lastly, and im sure i've built up a mental thing about it at this point, but i've had the flu before. My senior year in high school and thought i was going to die. I felt awful! I got the flu shot maybe like a year or so afterwards and got the flu and felt the same as i did w/o the shot and just havent gotten it since. I also take off from work if im feeling sickly and i avoid people like the plague who are showing signs of sickness as well so that I dont contract it.
