Welcome To aBlackWeb

UPDATE: Race_Jones got her first dose !

My question is what’s the road map out of this?

Vaccines mostly prevent severe illness and death, but not transmission

We still wearing masks in some places and social distancing in fewer

Boosters are out, some have predicted 3 boosters a year will be recommended (this message brought to you by Pfizer)

Scientists have said COVID variants will be in the ecosystem for the next 50 years at least

When do we start treating this thing like the flu? Why are NFL games still being postponed? We just rocking like this for the next half century?

my two pennies...people are just selfish as FUCK

people will knowingly have the flu and still go to work

they know their kids have pink eye and still send them to school/daycare

now, the underlining issue may be our society has created this issue by penalizing people for using sick leave or try to guilt trip them into not using their sick leave or give them a bunch of hoops to jump through to actually use the damn sick leave

but be that as it may, using your example, how many players in the various sports miss time because of the flu? I dont want you to google or some shit cause im not debating you, i just wanted to respond to your post, but i know it's not that many...hell, people even lie about the injury report and say flu like symptoms so players can miss games and they be back the next night, and it never seems like the shit spreads among the rest of the team or opponents to say they are in very close quarters as well.

My larger point is, and i think im in agreement with most is that had the government acted swiftly initially, we might have "returned to normal" a hell of a lot sooner but humans, greed and arrogance prevented that, but im also one of the few who dont want things to return to normal b/c people are trifling as fuck and this showed me just how inconsiderate most people you come into contact with are.

Then you have people who think that they should be able to move about freely even when shit isnt safe for them to do so or dont think enough of their families to get vaccinated so they can be around them in close quarters.

and my biggest point has always been, if you choose to not get the shot...fine, but you cant have it both ways to be unmasked, not practice social distancing, washing hands, etc... and wanna be out all willy nilly at the same time.

lastly, and im sure i've built up a mental thing about it at this point, but i've had the flu before. My senior year in high school and thought i was going to die. I felt awful! I got the flu shot maybe like a year or so afterwards and got the flu and felt the same as i did w/o the shot and just havent gotten it since. I also take off from work if im feeling sickly and i avoid people like the plague who are showing signs of sickness as well so that I dont contract it.

Agree w most of that but my question remains…

If COVID is here to stay, and at this point we aren’t seeing much change as far as severity of illness or efficacy of vaccines, what changes going forward?

Or have we arrived at our cruising altitude?

i think if it gets to a point when the immune system can fight it off without trying to decide if it's your time to go or not and i dont think we are there

the flu, and this is my severely limited understanding, but in its basic form, it does not compromise your body like covid has. In some very small instances where the flu has caused death, the numbers pale in comparison to what this strain has done in almost two years.

idk if that answers your question or not but i dont think this will be like the common flu at least for the immediate future.

I could never understand how companies penalize employees for using leave that they earned.

I’ve heard from multiple sources of varying reliability that there have been zero deaths attributed to the Omnicron variant…if that’s true then that’s why I’m saying it’s time to move a little different. No deaths would actually make it less dangerous than the flu.

It's more than safe to say Trump didn't do a good job of handling the pandemic but even if they handled it perfectly, whatever that means, we'd have gotten hit anyway.

im not trying to debate you fam b/c i know what side of this discussion you are sitting on but if he didnt try to just say it was the china virus and ignored all the recs from the people and shut down the country sooner, or stopped trying to take his ball and go home, i feel comfortable saying i think we would have been much better today off today even if you look at it through the lens of instead of x amount of deaths due to covid, we only have y amounts.

All things u mentioned taken into account the outcome could have still ended up the same. There's no way to tell.

Some of the highest vaxxed countries, with a higher vax rate than ours, have a higher death rate. Quick Google search will show u that.

Florida and NY have around 60% fully vax rate. Florida is anti vax mandate, anti mask mandate. NY has a higher death rate.

You can attribute that to all sorts of variables but the outcome remains the same.

I know y'all look at me a certain way on this subject but imo this is common sense.

All this shit start with China bc that's where it originated and to this day the gov'nt won't share any info even tho evidence shows a spread well before the rest of the world had to figure it out for themselves.

Ok

No one can rule out natural origins or lab leak yet. We can talk all day about which is likely but it's all speculation til real evidence comes out.

With that said tho I doubt China would do this purposely. If it did come from the lab it had to be negligence.

I’m realizing this like the third thread on this subject

yo just get the shit already....all of us did we still alive

the messaging shouldve never been vaccinated ppl can return to life as normal. therein lies my issue. lifting the mask mandate was dumb asf.

vaccines are the last line of defense.

but like I said, im getting vaccinated so i can go out... oh wait i cant do that because 2 shots and booster doesnt protect me from covid...

ok well at least it will protect me from hospitalization right? ....oh wait nvm it wont

okkkk what about death? hmmmmmm NO!

ok but at least i get to say im vaccinated and start blaming the unvaccinated (which also consist of kids and the immunocompromised) for the ongoing pandemic instead of the government who consistently without fail provided little to no protection to the american people during this national health crisis

oh ok cool
:foh3:

and oh goodie! my reward for getting vaccinated is more work! as if jobs arent super spreader events!!! yayyy

💯 they had that stupid mask of celebration and have been wavering indecisive and absent of leadership since then... the only reason they are moving on testing is because now its becoming unavoidable. They never just act ... they react and we will always be a few steps behind in some measure because of this and other things
