You don't have to be a drug kingpin for Tony's character to resonate with a person. Who here hasn't aspired to be bigger than the ppl around them told them they could be?

I hear you on your response and in an earlier post I asked does cultural impact, sales, and popularity come into play with our rankings and if it does, then I would go with properly rated.

Now if it's totally on how I felt about the movie overall and I'M judging it based on all the adulation it has received then hell yeah it's overrated. Lmao.

I mean it's a fun flick to watch but I don't think it's great

When it's movie's you like we're supposed to vote according to the RT score which is probably low so we'll say "underrated"


But when it's a movie you don;t like we're supposed to vote according to what "people make it out to be" which is normally a high rating so we'll say "overrated".
 
Im on page 2, and selling drugs works nothing like how it did on scarface.

So in yall mind this is how gangsta shit works? I go to work for a mfer, he sends me overseas, i come back with a ton more ordered than my boss told me to, then i holla at the bosses wife and then kill the boss and become top dog. All in like what? 6 months.

I loved scarface as a kid. Watched the movie as an adult and was like wtf is this?

Tony broke all the fucking rules and none of the shit that came with breaking the rules happened to him.

Its still a great movie but Tonys character arc is so unrealistic that it hurts the movie a ton.

Tony character arc worked perfectly for him because Frank under estimated him and ultimately brought him in to close before trying to get him seriously killed.

Tony paid for his actions time and time again...what movie did YOU watch?

You say the pacing sucked.....cool. Flaw of a lot of 80's and early 90's movie.

i said from jump RT was the baseline

i never said i didnt like scarface though lol

i just said that it's overrated. I used the critics score of it. They rated it high. I didnt agree

Like in the Paid in full thread. They rated it low, i disagreed.

81% isn't high and I can quote atleast 5 of your posts in this thread where you're asking niggas to defend the rating of "The people" not the critics.

The critics rate it 80, the people rate it 95.

I like my gangsta movies to be more realistic fam. Tony was talking shit to a mfer with a chainsaw in his face. Shit feel as unrealistic as a marvel movie.

I still think the movie is good. Just not as good as some of yall.

And my original point was more so you and goldie saying you cant talk bout this if you not into street shit. My whole point is, when it comes to street shit, no one following the tony blueprint will last for over a week on some street shit.

what i asked, and i was very specific. Why did they (the people on this site) rate the film but didnt care enough to have a discussion about it to support their decision? c'mon b.

it was you and infamous out of at the time 13 people who voted this as properly rated. Ya'll were the only two standing on your positions, while i disagreed, i appreciated ya'll standing with your position and didnt do a drive by vote.

Both the critics and the viewers rated this pretty high. IMO, the movie is overrated...Remember overrated /= wack

With Paid in Full, the critics gave it a low score, the audience gave it a high score, so at that point, i can either say its underrated or properly rated

NOW, if everyone in here thinks we should take an average of the scores, maybe we can try that. That would still make this movie a (81 + 95/(2) = 88) ...so it still roughly 9/10 people thinks this is good to great movie.

I think its overrated...and here we are

Narcissist. Tony talked shit because he truly hated those folks and he wasn't afraid to die. You forget how he used to get down in Cuba

I agree, everyone can't follow Tony blueprint to the top, but someone sure can. It ain't like Tony died 60yrs later or anything. As you said about the pacing.....the entire movie was the span of a yr? Maybe 2?
