The official COVID-19/Coronavirus Discussion Thread...aka I hope I don't get the Rona

Been saying this since the beginning.

Sounded suspect when so many scientists dismissed the possibility that covid started in a lab.

Especially in a lab..........that specifically studied coronaviruses............in Wuhan..........where covid originated.

My theory is that so many scientists debunked that theory........because, well, being scientists...........most of them probably work in labs.

And if there was proof that this virus started in a lab, then.....in the future.......what happens in labs would be more heavily scrutinized.

Which could directly affect their income as a result.

So, basically, they were just trying to cover their own asses by dismissing the lab theory.
Trust the experts

Trust the experts

When people say "trust the experts" you know what they're saying. It's to trust the people whose job this is and not somebody who does their research solely through YouTube University and Google MD. You're trusting these same experts who are providing information about natural immunity so who you trust all depends on what side you want to believe.

What I believe is much more data based not some figure heads, friendly face or any single official/outlet.

With that said the same can pretty much apply to anyone u follow.

Y'all not gonna act like the shit I post is some YouTube shit either.

Only questionable thing Ive posted that I myself am highly skeptical of at this point is ivermectin which I laid off posting about.

But there's enough real studies going on that's gonna confirm that, wrong or right, soon.

And if it turns out it was a sham I'll make sure to post it myself.

It's not youtube medics or other silly shit being posted. If it was there would have been a bigger fuss made when it was posted.

Imagine bum rushing an arena & getting arrested… for a nigga who doesn’t know you & don’t care enough for his teammates & others around him to get a simple shot.

I was talking about the context in which the phrase trust the experts is typically used in vs what you used it as. The information you post is still put together by people who are considered experts in their field and not some random person without any qualifications to be able to study and come to whatever conclusions that they find. That's what people mean when they say trust the experts...so to try and be sarcastic about that phrase when applying it to information you find questionable yet not apply it to the same information you provide doesn't match up.

O0oo0o I see now what you mean now. That's a good point and true. Maybe we need to distinguish between accepted experts and non accepted experts.

No that's not what I mean by sarcastically stating trust the experts.

I mean don't blindly follow anyone deemed as experts just bc they get the title.

That very much includes my sources.

The problem with the non experts is that people will deem somebody and expert simply if they have a large following. That's a huge problem in the US. People look to famous people to be experts or try and turn experts into celebrities...and quite often those are the ones whose opinions don't need to be elevated.

That's my issue with people like Rogan and his ilk. I remember an article @ChicagoFigure posted about why natural immunity isn't being pushed more and the person said it's because this country doesn't do well with nuance and it would result in a bunch of people intentionally trying to get infected. When Rogan had Sanjay Gupta on this fool with his millions of listeners says people should get vaccinated then go try and get infected with Covid intentionally. And people will actually listen to that shit as good advice simply because he has a popular podcast

The only thing I take issue with is that you and others attempt to draw conclusions from what you post. I think there has to be a baseline level of knowledge on a subject to confidently draw conclusions from articles about the subject.

Even if the article says “x is the conclusion”, there’s probably some other factors at play in that article’s research or elsewhere that needs to be considered. Without that baseline knowledge it’s hard to know that. You may be drawing great conclusions, but there’s a good chance that with more baseline knowledge the conclusions you draw may be different.

I appreciate your contributions though, this is just how I feel about non-experts trying to draw conclusions on expert level topics.

Eh u can say this about yourself as well. About anyone really. At the end of the day it's always better to educate yourself as best u can about the things u care about than to just blindly accept what's force fed to u..not u specifically just in general.

If I'm wrong I'ma be the one to live with that and accept it. All we all doing is making our own choices.

I agree people shouldn't get medical advise from entertainment personalities. However if a legitimate person of scholar is presenting contrary information that places their career on the line, imo they have more credibility than someone who is staying in line.
