...it's funny bc, if they are cheering on Usha knowing her parents immigrated here legally...

...it makes a better case that it has less to do with skin/race as it does legal status to them.
 
The immigration thing might be about legal status, but at this stage it's just a talking point. Pro-immigration reform politicians propagandize the racial aspect to rile up their less educated voting base. "Send them back" is not a solution to shitty bureaucracy, it's a war cry directed to ppl that don't look like them.
