The Official 2020/21 NBA Thread

The 2021 swap is a very late first for a very early 2nd. Would not be surprised if there is not more the 5 spots btw the 2 picks.

Bucks get back their 2022 first round pick. Horst's gamble here is that the 2022 first round pick and the 2023 "unprotected" first round pick will be pretty much in the same range. I dont think that's a crazy gamble. There is even a very good chance the Rockets get the worse pick of the 2 (fingers crossed)

So... 2 first round picks (one that has the potential, small I know to be top 5) for an older (solid but not good player) free agent they are going to have to most likely over pay and that's a good trade for Milwaukee???

Hey, I am a loud Rockets hater, so this is how things will turn out in my best case scenario

Rockets get 30th pick in 2021 and 30th pick in 2023

Bucks get 31th pick in 2021 and 25th pick in 2022. Plus Tucker.

Bucks win the trade.

Over paying a 36 year old Tucker and possibly giving up a top 5 draft pick isn't a win in my opinion but hey......

I'm not getting paid to run an NBA team like Horst so what do I know? Lol

What are the chances of the Bucks having a top 5 pick in 2023?

The same as Golden State getting the 2nd pick a year after going to the finals.....

Aka you never know and that's why it is unwise to trade unprotected 1st round picks unless you're getting a star back.

They really don’t have to pay Tucker. They can just let him walk. Plus they save a lot of money by getting rid of 2 more years of DJ Augustin who has not been a good fit with them.

Can’t believe they gave Augustin 3 years 21 million in the first place.

A one in millions situation where GS lost their 2 best players for the season, and then tanked, is your example and reasoning for saying the Bucks lost this trade? Think about that.

Another reason why it's a bad trade in my opinion and something I already stated.... lmao

They are trading picks for solid veteran role players on expiring, not actual young ones who might have unlocked potential, good role players locked into solid deals, or stars.

So unless they are trying to clear a ton of space for a star (which the tiny salaries they dropped isn't enough) it's an odd move. Like the one gentlemen and yourself stated maybe they are trying to clear space and this along with the Holiday trade is just the beginning. I hope so for their case

Lol, they are about to give Jrue the max this offseason, ALL the “tiny salaries “ matter in terms of saving tax money. From what u fans of small market teams tell me, this is a big deal.

Nah, that's not the only reason I felt they lost (which I've stated a few times already) it, but it Is a short sighted move on Milwaukee's part for a player who isn't going to put them over the top.

Shit, look at Minnesota dumping their pick to Golden State to get off Wiggins deal and get Russell. I think it's only top 3 protected for this draft which is pretty deep and the top 5 prospects are supposedly really good. Golden State could possibly get a top 5 talent (on a cheap long term deal) in this draft or trade the pick for an established good player locked into a solid to good deal.

Minnesota got their guy (eventhough he is overpaid) who is locked into a long term deal but stand the chance of losing a really good player or an important trade Chip that could make their team better. I will say they at least got the guy they coveted while he was locked in contract wise though.

Now you're comparing Minnesota's recent history to the Bucks? If these are your best examples, I'd say the odds are in the Bucks favor regarding that pick.

I didn't like the Holiday trade also, which is another reason why I think this trade is crazy. Lmao.

But I've said that already. Every salary does matter for small media markets which makes his moves even stranger to me. Drafting and developing is one of the key ways to maintaining a competitive team in a small media market in my opinion. Word to OKC and San Antonio

All jokes aside PJ held it down for us during our runs so all respect due. He not getting past my Nets but I wish him well.

you initially stated it's s one in a million chance future unprotected picks can't come back to bite you in the butt and I gave you one recent and one possible recent example. LMAO.

I mean look at the Boston and Brooklyn trade as another example of this same thing playing out. Boston got all those damn unprotected picks for Garnett and Pierce. This stuff isn't new or that old and if you're a fan of this league then you know this already. LMAO

If you would like I could give you more but it seems that whatever I show wouldn't sway your opinion. LMAO
