The Official 2020/21 NBA Thread

I thought after the wizards and Miami issues that there wouldn’t be anything like that for the rest of the season but then the raptors got hit

so I wonder who’s next to have about 3-4 members affected

San Antonio had 5 guys out at one time due to COVID-19 also. It's been an interesting season so far but the league is persevering.......so far

First off I don’t agree with shipping Augustin out

Then you pretty much trade two FRPs for one

getting ariza for a 2nd rounder/injured player >>>>

Wtf bucks lost this trade lol

Jon Horst should definitely be on the clock for being fired. The best things he has done was fire Jason Kidd and hire Budenholzer in my opinion. I understand he hasn't had the highest of draft picks (Divincenzo not withstanding, I also like Diakite who they got undrafted this season) due to the teams success but he definitely missed on his 2017 draft selection of DJ Wilson when it was a decent amount of better players to be selected instead of him.

I like the Brooke Lopez and Bobby Portis free agent signings he has made but other than that he has made some odd moves (outside obvious stuff like resigning Middleton and Giannis) to say the least. He resigned Bledsoe way before he needed to which screwed them because he overpaid. He let Brogdon virtually walk and It's well documented on here that I didn't like the trade for Holiday (really good player but traded too much for a guy who could potentially be a rental or vastly overpaid to justify trading for him) and now this awful trade.

Dude is throwing away draft picks aka young cheap potential talent for veteran guys on expiring deals like the money aspect isn't important. Milwaukee isn't a free agent destination so when you trade for guys on expiring deals who are good but not great players you're going to have to overpay to keep them there. Unless they are longer in the tooth NBA age wise.

Just short sighted overview from Horst... SMH

Unprotected 1st rounder in 2023........... And Houston is going to get Milwaukee's 1st this season

Good trade for Houston in my opinion due to Tucker being a free agent and maybe leaving Milwaukee after this season and those 1st rounders, especially that 2023 one. No telling what could happen that season to Milwaukee so not protecting that pick is crazy to me

you gave up a first and traded for one. If I’m reading this correct Houston traded a pick pack to the bucks. Essentially it was a 2022 for 2023 frp swap and a potential future swap of 2nds. This is basically a gamble hoping the Bucks aren’t as good two years from now and the initial pick you owned raises in value. Great move for Milwaukee and potentially great for Houston down the line

Exactly. Unless the Bucks collapse spectacularly next 2 seasons, all Houston got in the trade was the right to move up a few spots in the swap in 2021.

How do you see this as a great move for Milwaukee?

They are giving Houston the rights to swap picks and giving up an unprotected future draft pick for a guy who is older and could leave via free agency after this season?

The swap is a very late first for a very early 2nd. Would not be surprised if there is not more the 5 spots btw the 2 picks.

Bucks get back their 2022 first round pick. Horst's gamble here is that the 2022 first round pick and the 2023 "unprotected" first round pick will be pretty much in the same range. I dont think that's a crazy gamble. There is even a very good chance the Rockets get the worse pick of the 2 (fingers crossed)

Maybe I'm reading the tweet wrong but Houston gets Milwaukee's 2021 pick unless it's in the top 9, which barring injuries and an epic collapse is going to be Houston's pick. Lol.

Then Houston also gets Milwaukee's 2023 first round pick no matter where it falls in the draft for Tucker (who is going to get overpaid or leave via free agency), Kurucs (whose game fell off a cliff after his rookie season and will most likely not get resigned), and Milwaukee gets their 1st round pick back in the 2022 draft. Which if they are healthy will be a low 1st round pick.

Honestly not trying to be funny, is what I just stated correct? If it is..........

How is it a good trade for Milwaukee?

Gave up a backup PG and two picks for a 6’6 36 year old averaging 4 and 4 on an expiring

kurucs not worth mentioning
