As I said if he does great for Spurs, they could lose him next summer and Madrid might not even want him. Just get the money. Essentially Utd could buy him next year from Madrid after Spurs have acclimatised him to the PL for us.
I thought Spurs had a first chance refusal on Bale anyways, so its obvious Jose would push for Bale if anyother EPL team wanted him...
