Just yesterday I was talking with someone about how we felt sorry for the Newcastle fans, what with the takeover collapse and the loss of hope they must be feeling heading toward the new season.

Yet here I'm seeing that they're after former Chelsea target Callum Wilson for £20m, former Liverpool target Jamal Lewis for £13.5m and free agent Ryan Fraser who was once linked to Arsenal 2 seasons ago!

Something is definitely up...

It likely means Mike Ashley has found a prospective buyer; by buying talented players on relatively cheap transfer and wages, this increases the likelihood Newcastle retains their Prem status heading into next offseason. Normal business practice, he's simply trying to improve the value of the club, in order to maximise the selling potential.

Tottenham did it by building a new stadium (football/nfl purposes), training complex; also with the aim to increase the club's value and appeal, just to find a new buyer however covid-19 has altered that process.
