Characters get changed all the time. Superman couldnt fly when he was first created. Iceman is gay. Nick fury wasnt always white. Magneto is not the father of quicksilver and wanda. Etc ... Each writer is different from the last. They provide their iteration of the characters.

Imagine how stupid that statement would sound if niggas got up in arms over every taboo topic comics discussed. Tony Stark got turned into a whole alcoholic and wasn't nobody talking about how that was gonna make kids start picking up a bottle to drink.
