Scary Movies, Help Me Understand

If you like suspense movies you should like horror, it’s really the same thing plus gore
I think suspense movies draw you in on the notion of hope or fail. Like, it’s triggers a different chemical in the brain or something. You aren’t necessarily worried, cause the hope of success is ever present.

Where to me with horror movies, at least to me, the hope isn’t there, I almost always expect everyone but one person to die. Final Destination I think was the bridge between suspense and horror. In that at no point did it scare you but it did shock you.

Like, the type of person that would shit down and watch an old Dracula film where the shock isn’t there it’s pure horror, why chose to endure that.

maybe adrenaline triggers differently in some of us

Final Destination movies changed me. I can't be driving behind an 18 wheeler. Especially one carrying logs of wood. Or even boats

Final destination ain’t a scary movie per se. that shit scared me though. I was all on the floor in the corner of the movie theater watching that.

It's been years since I've actually been scared by a movie. Unfortunately I'm desensitized by real horrific shit I've experienced and seen.

I watch them more so now to see if they can manage to scare me. You might have to switch the style up like "the babadook" or "it follows" ( it follows sucked just using it as an example) and apply it to real life everyday shit people go through. That's what made "the babadook" scary is that it could be me. Hack b slash horror flicks just not gonna do it anymore. I look at live leaks. None of thos hack n slack shit scary cause you know they aren't actua dead and what happened to them has zero possibility of happening to you. Once you enter that mindset that's it for horror films.

Get out was dope suspense and Alien is suspense and horror. Conjuring could be both too.
