Yeah, I agree. As those neo-Nazi groups gain more prominence, Ukraine definitely won't be a safe place for black people if it ever was. I could definitely see them get a lot of power in Ukraine if somehow Russia loses this and the Ukranian citizens start to credit the victory to some of those Neo-nazi leaders. You need only look at the list of American presidents to know how quick nations are to put war heroes into power.

They're referred to as oligarchs because they wield tremendous political power over the country and, as such, are considered part of the "ruling class". Russia's government has been considered an oligarchy for centuries, even under communism.

The only time we had something similar the the Russian oligarchy was under Trump, where his fellow billionaires most likely had a direct connection to him and had his ear politically. Maybe under GWB but his connects were more in intelligence.

The world would have had to been against the invasion of Iraq, and we did it anyways, alone.

Now initially, in 2001, when GDub first announced he wanted to go into Iraq immediately after 9/11, the world WAS against it because we tried to tie it to 9/11. Had we done it at that point then we would be in Russias position today: The world shutting us down and snatching billionaire assets from around the globe.

I’m asking what would be the response if our private citizens started getting assets seized by a foreign nation because they disagree w our military action

What I'm saying is that the conditions would need to be the same in order for something like that argument to even be valid, otherwise it's just fanciful speculation.

You're missing the point that the oligarchs aren't wholly private citizens. Sure, our billionaires can give "campaign contributions" to get the ear of politicians and achieve some measure of political influence. The oligarchs actually take active roles in how Russia is governed. For instance, Putin starts this war, it's possible that, to some extent, some of those oligarchs are actually funding the war to some degree, which is why other nations are basically trying to freeze their finances.
