WWE will no longer being running four events at the same arena during major PPV weekends. This policy change will go into effect at the Royal Rumble.
At this time, Smackdown is scheduled for Dallas, TX. World's Collide (replacing NXT Takeover) will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston and the Royal Rumble will be at Minute Maid Park. RAW is currently being booked for San Antonio.
Despite being replaced during Royal Rumble weekend, NXT Takeover events are still expected to be scheduled during 2020. Dave Meltzer noted the following:
"You know Takeovers will be bigger because of two hours on TV and also you know they’re gonna be promoted on television on USA rather than on the WWE Network. There’s probably 1.2 million homes that get WWE Network in the United States and there’s 87 million or so that get the USANetwork. So, in theory the interest in these Takeover shows should be multiplied many times over so it should be as far as interest level."
Yeah get Toni Storm the fuck out of NXT UK, she needs to be spotlighted in the original NXT, I love her. There's been a lot of talk in the last week that the tiered WWE Network will launch in January 2020. WWE has been reaching out to independent companies about their potential interest in appearing on the Network. I would expect EVOLVE, ICW, PROGRESS and potentially CHIKARA to come on board. We've heard the company has gone as far as to reach out to lucha promotions in Mexico.
Pete Dunne is in the process of moving to the United States full time, so expect him to be a big part of WWE NXT going forward.
There's been a lot of talk in the last week that Toni Storm will be featured more in WWE NXT going forward, as opposed to NXT UK.
Its football season they better get used to them shitty ass raw ratingsAs noted last week, the plan is to split up the rosters again and there are plans to split up the announce teams which means Corey Graves will not be pulling double duty on two shows.
The insider wrestling news account Wrestlevotes is reporting that the plan is for Michael Cole to be the lead announcer for SmackDown on FOX.
The other news coming out is that Vic Joseph will be the lead announcer for Monday Night Raw. Joseph filled in for Corey Graves a few weeks ago. Joseph has called NXT and 205 Live and does a great job.
The announce team changes are not set in stone but that is reportedly the working idea right now.
No word yet on where Corey Graves will land but there’s speculation that Renee Young could move to SmackDown because FOX likes her and they want her for their studio show that will air on Tuesday’s on Fox Sports 1.
You can expect a lot of changes in the next 4-6 weeks. There is a draft scheduled and there is unhappiness over the low viewership this week and low ratings usually lead to creative changes by Vince McMahon.
And you CANT..... TEACH....THAT!According to PW Insider, Big Cass was the cause of a controversial backstage incident at last night’s WrestlePro event in Rahway New Jersey, which was the final show for owner Pat Buck, who was recently signed to WWE as a producer. Reports are that Cass, who was an unadvertised surprise in a battle royal matchup booked for the show, confronted AEW star Joey Janela. The heated argument, possibly stemming from Janela’s issues with Enzo Amore at a Blink 182 concert, eventually forced the two men to be separated, with Cass remaining hot and confrontational with the rest of the locker room.
Cass was later parading around the locker room and claiming that someone had stolen his property, even accusing the show’s headliners SCU and Pat Buck. Cass then spat in Buck’s face. Buck responded by decking Cass with a right hand that dropped the former WWE star, and immediately changing his demeanor from aggressive to questioning why he was hit. Local police were then summoned to escort Cass from the building, with Buck continuing on to work his farewell show.
It didn’t end there. Cass remained outside the venue, shouting remarks that caused the police to search his car. Apparently the remarks he was making were cause for concern, and they called an ambulance for Cass to be taken to the local hospital. The consensus from most of the talent on site has labeled Cass as a troublemaker, with little to no locker room sympathy or support based on his actions. He is not expected to be booked again for the promotion.
