05/26/2021 - STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- WWE® (NYSE: WWE) today announced the next three live events as part of its 25-city touring schedule this summer. The tour now includes:

- Friday, July 23: SmackDown – Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland
- Monday, July 26: Raw – T-Mobile Center in Kansas City
- Friday, July 30: SmackDown – Target Center in Minneapolis

The word making the rounds at WWE today is that former American Ninja Warrior announcer Jimmy Smith will indeed begin on the Raw announcing team this Monday.

As PWInsider.com reported yesterday, Smith, who joined the WWE announcing team at NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver last month, has been putting in a lot of work to prepare for future WWE broadcast assignments. We noted yesterday he was very much in consideration for the role.

Prior to ANW, Smith competed in MMA and did commentary for UFC and Bellator.

Why they keep bringing people with no wrestling experience, bring up Wade Barrett

WWE held an all hands on deck meeting this afternoon led by WWE President Nick Khan and CFO Kristen Salen. Vince McMahon was not part of the meeting.

The major announcement coming out of the meeting was that employees would be returning to their offices in Stamford, CT starting this July.

Given that the company is returning to the road around the same time period, that can't be seen as much of a surprise.

WWE had given employees the option of working from home as much as possible, depending on the division of the company they were working for, as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold last year.

Sports Business Daily reported this afternoon that WWE is holding this August's Summerslam at a NFL stadium to be determined.

Their reports states that the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, NRG Stadium in Houston, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and Nissan Stadium in Nashville are all under consideration.

It would be the first time Summerslam will be hosted in a stadium in the United States. Summerslam 1992 was held at Wembley Stadium in the UK, headlined by Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith.

The report states that the weekend of 8/22 is being targeted for Summerslam, which falls in line with PWInsider's reporting.

FYI Summerslam might be on the Saturday of that weekend

Apologies in advance for this rant...

Seriously WTF is Vince or whoever is making the decisions (M. Cole??) thinking with these commentating choices? They brought in a dude that's a baseball guy who really has no knowledge of professional wrestling. He's crap so he gets fired. Then they're bringing in Jimmy Smith, which if WWE was MMA, I would say is a good move but its PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING not MMA. He has NO knowledge about professional wrestling in 2020. Then fire Tom Phillips who was pretty damn good on Smackdown and NXT being a "play-by-play" guy by WWE's standards

I'm starting to think like LaGrecca on Busted Open now. If MNR is still supposed to be the flagship show, act like it and bring in people who know the f'n product. Give an offer to Sam Roberts or even Rosenburg. Find Joey Styles, whereever the f he is and throw some money at him to bring back the Raw commentating to some type of decency because its ass juice right now.

Sorry Rant Over...

I dont think they consider that shit the flagship anymore

the top guys for the past few years are on Friday nights.

Reigns, Rollins, Owens.. DB was on there.

AJ is probably the biggest star on Monday nights n he dont even get used weekly.

its safe to say they dont care about RAW like that anymore

They're actions truly show that they don't care about MNR

I really wonder what the USA network thinks about this
aint they the ones who wanted a 3 hr kiddie show?

thats what ive always read

maybe FOX outbids them for RAW when the time comes and we see a turn around
