What’s the point of the brand extension again?

Pwinsider: WWE has postponed this Monday's Smackdown live event in Corbin, Kentucky.

The decision was made over the last several days and was done to send several Smackdown stars to that night's Monday Night Raw to assist in the build for Money in the Bank.

You wouldn't be wrong in assuming the ratings drop last week was also a factor in the decision, as Roman Reigns has already gone on his Twitter to say he will be on Raw to handle "unfinished business." -

I'm a keep it Vince just needs to get rid of the brand extension b/c it just doesn't matter when both main roster shows ratings are in the toilet. After listening to Solomonster's podcast today he is right about both tag team divisions on RAW/SD needing to just be one whole division altogether. No one is really over on the main roster and creative is sewer juice.

According to the Wrestling Observer, both the FOX and USA Networks are putting pressure on WWE to end the brand-split due to poor program ratings for Raw and SmackDown. This somewhat explains the bizarre “wild card” rule announced by Vince McMahon on last night’s episode of Raw, where he stated that a certain set of superstars can jump back and forth between the brands at any point. This week’s viewership numbers haven’t been released yet, but WWE did have Game 4 of the NBA playoff showdown between the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors to compete with.

Meanwhile, last week’s numbers were the lowest WWE has had all year, down significantly from the same point last year at the start of the new quarter. SmackDown Live specifically has dropped nearly 40% in the 18-35 demographic.

It doesn't matter what WWE does until Vince stops managing everything in creative so heavy handed. Another point that was made in the Solomonster podcast about Vince is that he is 70+ and to prideful to relinquish some creative control. Back in the day when the Monday Night Wars was going he wasn't too prideful to ask for help when WCW had they back against the wall.

Backstage News on Bray Wyatt's Firefly Funhouse & References to PTSD Therapy

-- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that many of the references on Bray Wyatt's "Firefly Funhouse" segments are related to therapy for PTSD. For example, a "Special Place" is reportedly a standard coping skill use for trauma and the art work of the house on fire is also related to trauma therapy. According to a therapist, Wyatt putting his hands over his heart is a reference to "butterfly hugs", which are apparently used for PTSD therapy involving bilateral stimulation. It appears that ultimately the idea being pushed here is that Wyatt has reformed but is still being haunted by some sort of a traumatic experience or past.

thats kinda cool, Im here for this new gimmick i just hope it dont end up being some bullshit once he finally back on tv

Last week, Bray Wyatt announced through his social media channels that there was a hidden meaning placed in 8 of his promos from 2015. Intrigued fans will have until next Monday to solve the riddle.

As of yet, nobody has discovered the hidden message but Wyatt says several have come close.

^^
shit like that is dope too

He said he will reveal it on Monday.

Hopefully it ties into his current character and it isn’t just something he threw out there.

This new Bray is interesting... I was bugging at first but I’m now seeing the demented creepiness of it, which fits him perfectly... he’s like a Jekylle/Hyde

It has a lot of potential

They just cant be chumping him out like they were doing before having him lose feuds only to come back and act like it never happened cause if they do then the whole repackaging is just pointless.

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE would not allow NXT United Kingdom women’s champion Toni Storm face-off against AEW star Bea Priestley at a STARDOM event scheduled for later this month. Storm had already had matches this past week with Tam Nakano and Mom Wantanabe for the Japanese promotion, but due to Priestley’s affiliation with AEW, Storm was pulled. STARDOM issued the following statement online.

"For the upcoming Korakuen Hall show on May 16, the previously announced match between Toni Storm and Bea Priestley will not take place due to circumstances beyond our control. Thank you for understanding".

These mf'ers so damn petty

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com provided the latest information regarding NXT expenses and how much talentmakes:

* The average NXT star makes around $80,000 a year. It should be noted that the average is skewed for higher paid talent.

* NXT stars also have their lodging and travel paid for when they’re not wrestling in Florida.

* Live event ticket and merchandise money is enough to cover the cost of travel and lodging.

* The entire annual ticket gross for NXT was $6.4 Million.

I posted the article mainly b/c of the AEW tv deal stuff. If they have a deal in place w/TNT in the fall WWE might be in serious trouble.

I’m so excited for AEW. Still surprised it’s with TNT but not complaining. Gonna be happy to watch wrestling on Turner again

WWE will see a huge hit when AEW comes on. I honestly hope they air on Mondays at the same time Raw does. Wwe need the fire held to their feet... they’ve become so content w lazy writing
