In one of the most ridiculously stupid things I will write about of late, several sources reached out today to make it clear that AEW's Dr. Britt Baker was not involved in preventing Indie Wrestling Hall of Famer Lufisto from being signed by AEW back when LuFisto made several appearances for the company.
In what sounds like the most overblown thing ever, LuFiso referenced someone "blackballing her" from getting into a promotion, obviously referencing AEW but not by name in a now-deleted Twitter post that read, "It’s cute how people blame booking for a bad women’s division. Talent with too much power; talent denigrating each other; talent trash-talking potential employees so they never get in as soon as they walk in. It starts here. – The one you called FN French Canadian asshole"
LuFisto made the post after a fan sign demanding better booking for the AEW Women's division made air during a Taya Valkyrie vs. Britt Baker match on Wednesday. Since Baker worked for AEW at the time (Taya did not), this some online conflating that "it must have been" Baker who "kept LuFisto out", although she was never mentioned, nor was AEW, which led to sources reaching out PWInsider.com today to state it was not Baker who kept the Canadian star from working for AEW. That led to several sources reaching out this AM.
The entire situation is goofy and ridiculous and once again proves that "when you assume, it makes an ass out of you and me."
Of course, this leads to question of who LuFisto was talking about, but she's not bringing that forth.
Whether this leads to all of this ridiculousness being turned into an angle that leads to LuFisto coming in remains to be seen, but based on what we heard today, I doubt that's going to be the case.
