Manny Pacquiao Aligns Himself With Al Haymon, Eyes Big Fights
By Rick Reeno

In a move that could pave the way for a 2019 rematch with Floyd Mayweather, eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao has aligned himself with powerful adviser Al Haymon

Haymon, who runs Premier Boxing Champions, is the longtime adviser to Mayweather.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the details have confirmed to BoxingScene.com that Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs) has indeed signed on with Haymon.

Pacquiao, 39-years-old, was in action back in July when he scored a seventh round knockout over Lucas Matthysse to capture the WBA "regular" welterweight title.

Last year, Pacquiao became a promotional free agent after his contract expired with Top Rank - who guided the boxer's career for over a decade.

Earlier in the year, Pacquiao parted ways with head trainer Freddie Roach, and is now being trained by best friend Buboy Fernandez, who led the entire camp for the Matthysse fight.

And according to multiple sources the boxer has also cut ties with longtime business manager Michael Koncz.

Haymon is the adviser to nearly all of the big names at or around 147-pounds - including WBA "super" champion Keith Thurman, IBF champion Errol Spence, and WBC champion Shawn Porter.

Haymon also works with other potential Pacquiao opponents at 147, like Danny Garcia, Adrien Broner, Jamal James, Josesito Lopez, Andre Berto, Yordenis Ugas, John Molina, Victor Ortiz, Devon Alexander and several others.

Haymon, through his PBC banner, has no shortage of television dates - after finalizing content deals with both Showtime and FOX.

Pacquiao lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Mayweather, 41-years-old, in 2015. Their fight broke revenue records in the U.S. with over half a billion brought in. And it generated the highest-grossing pay-per-view in history, with 4.6 million purchases.

Last month, Mayweather and Pacquiao were spotted having a conversation at a concert in Tokyo - and soon after Mayweather announced his intention to resume his career for a Pacquiao rematch. Mayweather retired in August 2017 after stopping UFC champion Conor McGregor in the tenth round of a boxing match.

Showtime Sports head Stephen Espinoza had previously informed BoxingScene that Mayweather was very serious about the possibility of returning to the ring for Pacquiao.

“I think Floyd is very serious,” Espinoza told BoxingScene.com last week. “I think people doubted him because of the way it was announced and the timing of the announcement. I think that was just another added bonus for him. But having had discussions with him and discussions with his business people, he’s definitely serious.”

This is the best business move Manny has made .. since he got away with finessing Golden Boy out 6 figures w/o signing a contract...

How? Everyone successful boxer to date promote themselves.
It's sad that he re-signed with Arum supposedly as Arum's marquee fighter yet Arum can't even be bothered to push him properly. Unfortunately these guys didn't learn from Floyd. Once you get to a certain level, such as where Bud is at, Arum becomes a hindrance not a help.

Not true the 2 biggest money makers in boxing right now Canelo and Joshua don't promote themselves.

There is no one size fits all for how getting to the money works in anything. Arum tried to make Floyd the new Ray Leonard that wasn't working for Floyd but being the villain did work. Being the villain worked for Broner but I don't thinkbeing the villain would work for Spence. I actually think more of a Ray Leonard approach would work for Spence. Being loud and damn on the verge of being villains ain't working for the Charlos.

People just have to find what works for them and go with it.

As old as Manny is he is liable to catch someone slippin.. dude is a freak Its a shame he hasnt challenged himself lately.. Thats on him and handlers.

He didnt look great fighting timothy bradley one rarely (he did have a ridiculous moment ..where he hit that nigga with like a 8-10 punch combo) does but when you contrast that with the fact that Marquez who is 3 times the boxer Manny is.. couldnt find Bradley if he was tied to him Manny still has the hand speed and foot speed. That horn performance was terrible though and he LOST that but he could probably legit fight twice more. His viability as a real threat was dampened by is competition. He definitely not the same and that goes with out sayin but even in defeat hell make it real for these cats

Styles make fights. Manny has to pick and choose carefully. Spence and Crawford beat the dog shit out of Manny. Garcia probably beats Manny but it would look and possibly be a close fight.

I think he loses to them but.. these cats aint never really been hit by . Garcia has penchant for being lazy he hasnt been that lately thats a possible.. he would Beat porter.. He should fight Khan

Garcia ain't lazy. Garcia is not the best athlete but he good from a technical standpoint and very poised. So when he fights certain people who are way more athletic than him Garcia's flaws will really standout.

I don't see Manny beating Porter at all. With the way Horn roughed up Manny, Porter would do that shit on a whole different level. Manny way to washed up to deal with Porter's athletic ability and his physicality.

Agree Manny vs Khan would be a good fight for Manny.

Arum: Pacquiao, Mayweather No Longer Elite - It's a Money Grab
Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has double-downed on his position of distancing himself from a potential rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Arum's company was the co-promoter of the first contest, which took place in May of 2015 - and Mayweather won a twelve round unanimous decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The contest brought in a record shattering 4.6 million pay-per-views buys, with over half a billion in revenue.

On Thursday, BoxingScene.com reported that Pacquiao signed on with Mayweather longtim adviser, Al Haymon.

The two boxers were spotted together last month at a concert in Tokyo, and they both began openly discussing the idea of a rematch.

If a rematch takes place, it wouldn't likely go down until the first half of 2019.

Arum had promoted Pacquiao for over a decade, but the eight division world champion became a free agent last year.

If they come to him for help with a rematch, Arum claims that he will take a pass.

"I don't want any part of it. They're past their prime. It'll do good at the box office. It'll make money, which is fine. But, they're not elite fighters anymore," Arum told TMZ Sports.

"It's a money grab. Business is business. It's good money for each of them. You can't begrudge them, but they're not elite anymore."

Pacquiao was in action back in July, when he stopped Lucas Matthysse to capture the WBA "regular" welterweight title. Mayweather hit the ring in August 2017, when he stopped UFC superstar Conor McGregor in the rounds. After that fight, Mayweather announced his retirement from the sport - but is now open to the idea of coming back for a big money Pacquiao fight.
