Shit like this is annoying to me. She makes some good points, but people like her never seem to understand that you can make those same points without holding up some other race in an effort to downplay the unique struggle that blacks have faced.

The problem with always doing shit like that is that you push a false idea that there is some magic trick to prosperity that blacks simply don't use and everyone else does. That's not reality. There are certainly things we can do to improve our community, but people have to stop opening the discussion about those things by using other groups to basically throw our people under the bus.

I hear you, but think about it. Imagine running a race and for half of it you got a weight around your neck. If someone comes and takes that weight off you, your performance is probably going to improve dramatically. That's basically how it went for Asians. The country didn't just become less racist towards them, it actually held them up in a way to deflect attention from the racism shown towards other groups, particularly blacks. Keep in mind, he's talking about the 70s where black people were still being subjected to some pretty blatant racism. I ain't saying you can't learn anything from Asians. I believe their community does promote having a strong work ethic, but it doesn't help black people to act as if the reason we are behind is solely because of things that we're not doing.

It depends on how you use it. If you point out something specific another community has done, and then give ideas for how you can implement that in our community, that's fine. If you try to use another community as a blueprint for how the black community operates and then act like the only reason blacks can't come up is that they aren't doing what that other community is doing, you're just wrong. Not every community has faced the same challenges to the same degree, so the blueprint that worked for one might not work for another.

I don't know if that's what she actually did in her initial statement, but if it was, then people were right to call her out.

The answer is right in the word - refund. It ain't like you getting free money. You just overpaid, and are getting back what you're owed. I ain't gonna lie though, whether its already my money or not, it does feel nice to get an unexpected fat check.

Facts. I knew this chick that basically planned on her net check. Like she would rack up debt and pay it off with the net check. She never paid attention to any of the tax laws being passed though. So one year, they raised the tax rate, and that check she got back was like half of what it usually was. She was walking around looking sick that whole month after she got the check.

Really? That doesn't make sense. If you have 0 on everything, they should be taking the max. You might want to talk to a tax specialist. There is a remote possibility that there is a mistake somewhere in the chain.
