Hilger recently used old census records to trace the fortunes of whites, blacks and Asians who were born in California during the early- to mid-20th century. He found that educational gains had little to do with how Asian Americans managed to close the wage gap with whites by the 1970s.
Instead, his research suggests that society simply became less racist toward Asians.
damn, became less racist is a bar
but it does make me be like "damn...dassit"
oh no doubt...i agree with the findingsI hear you, but think about it. Imagine running a race and for half of it you got a weight around your neck. If someone comes and takes that weight off you, your performance is probably going to improve dramatically. That's basically how it went for Asians. The country didn't just become less racist towards them, it actually held them up in a way to deflect attention from the racism shown towards other groups, particularly blacks. Keep in mind, he's talking about the 70s where black people were still being subjected to some pretty blatant racism. I ain't saying you can't learn anything from Asians. I believe their community does promote having a strong work ethic, but it doesn't help black people to act as if the reason we are behind is solely because of things that we're not doing.
I think people use other groups to prove there point as a blue print.Shit like this is annoying to me. She makes some good points, but people like her never seem to understand that you can make those same points without holding up some other race in an effort to downplay the unique struggle that blacks have faced.
The problem with always doing shit like that is that you push a false idea that there is some magic trick to prosperity that blacks simply don't use and everyone else does. That's not reality. There are certainly things we can do to improve our community, but people have to stop opening the discussion about those things by using other groups to basically throw our people under the bus.

Black on black crime...But white people kill white people and Asians kill Asians...Bit when it comes to building up the community for some reason the same tactic doesn't apply.
Exactly shit is so stupid ....then u gotta watch niggas throw their refunds in ur face lol my homie a single mother of 3 she got like 12k back this yrI feel ya, I've had to pay the last two years myself. I still don't understand why. I feel I dont make much, but I'm single with no dependents.
A bad combination.
Let's be real though most people don't save for shit so a refund is like the government was holding the shit for uThe way to never have to pay taxes is to put 0 down for all your deductions and witholdings. It's always kinda funny how people get so happy when they get a refund back, myself included. The answer is right in the word - refund. It ain't like you getting free money. You just overpaid, and are getting back what you're owed. I ain't gonna lie though, whether its already my money or not, it does feel nice to get an unexpected fat check.

I have 0 on both state and federal withholdings. Still have to pay. I'm going to have to elect for them to take a lil extra out my checks to avoid having to pay
