I'm going to assume that any version of events that included cutting his arm or hand off would have ended up with someone else getting the gauntlet and doing even worse damage than Thanos.

The writers actually addressed that a little. They said that Thanos is powerful even without the Gauntlet and that there was no guarantee that just because the heroes got it off that they would have been able to keep it away from Thanos.

I've slowed down on movie videos altogether.
John Campea's overexplaining ass stopped doing time markers and I refuse to sit through 20 minutes of him giving disclaimers for the disclaimers of his own personal opinion.
Collider has been making the same Heroes video for the past 3 months: "what will happen in phase 4/what is the future for DC"
Beyond the Trailor stays in the pocket so she's cool.
