This is so dumb. For every article you can find saying that she was the first Indian American Senator you can find probably 20 that described her as the first African American senator from CA, or the second female African American senator.

From 2016:



She i) has African ancestry, and ii) identifies as black, and this was always enough for someone to be black.

Let’s use common sense here. If you ran into Kamala at Howard and knew nothing about her you’d say she’s black. Mixed with something, but black.

And y’all know mixed people that you’ve always called black.
